Women, Inter-American Cooperation and Brazilian Nursing Post-1930

In Brazil, during the New State (1937-1945), the Institute of Inter-American Affairs of the Rockefeller Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Health of Federal Govern inaugurated the Special Public Health Service as an office that established the Nurse Brazil Party. Nurses from United States act as consultants in the endeavor to resumption nursing that broke the current model of professional training, considered politics and ideologically inoperative. By retracing the historical process, the article remounts to the work of women in international relations in the 20th century, particularly Ella Hasenjaeger, whose trajectory allows us to project places taken by nurses in public health policies that have come from the U.S. to Latin America, and in Brazil, from the Nursing School of University of São Paulo.
