Digitization of 19th Century Brazilian Female Authors and the Historiography of Philosophy in Brazil

The digitization of texts by Brazilian philosophers is leading to the redefinition and reconstruction of the philosophical narrative in Brazil. This article proposes an analysis of the impact of this practice on the identity of Brazilian philosophy, emphasizing the crucial rediscovery and visibility of the contributions of female authors to the development of national philosophical thought. The digitization of their works makes it possible to rediscover authors who have been forgotten for decades, allowing the traditional narrative of Brazilian philosophy to be questioned. We understand Digital Humanities as a methodology that, when applied to the history of philosophy in Brazil, not only revives the debate on the elements that constitute it but also broadens its understanding in a more comprehensive and inclusive manner. By challenging the Eurocentric and restrictive conceptions that have prevailed for so long, this rediscovery enables a critical reevaluation of the foundations on which the history of Brazilian philosophy has been based.
