This paper addresses some ethical aspects in Applied Linguistics research. Surprisingly, until recently, ethical reflections have received little attention in the literature of the area. This study, after tracing some parallels between human research in Medicine and in Applied Linguistics, discusses some problems, having two main aspects as a departure: (1) relationship among researchers and (2) relationship between the researchers and their collaborators. Concerning the relationship among researchers, topics such as authorship and respect to different affiliations are discussed. Seven questions are raised in order to bring into discussion the relationship between the researchers and their collaborators. These questions are connected to ethical aspects, such as privacy, confidentiality, consent and methodology. In conclusion, it is pointed out that responsibility and solidarity (MorIn, 2003) must be the essential principles when doing research
