Translation of contemporary women’s writing in Spain: “Operación cancelada” by Rosario Pérez Blanco

ABSTRACT

This article is the result of a collaborative research in Literary Translation between the groups Traducere (UFSM/UEMS, Brazil) and the El Laurel de la Azotea creative writing group (Granada, Spain). This research aimed to translate and recognize literary works of contemporary Spanish women writers to present annotated and/or commented translations according to the Brazilian context. Through discussions with the Spanish group, it was selected the short stories to be translated. A group of Brazilian students participated in this research and, therefore, it was approached the teaching of translation. It was translated the short story Operación cancelada published in 2019 by Rosario Pérez Blanco, who is one of the writers in the El Laurel de la Azotea group. Besides translating, it was approached the source text production context and it was discussed the translation solutions found. The theoretical contributions are based on the following critics: Carvalhal (2003), Paz (2009), Rónai (1985), Navarro (2000), Mangueira (2018), Andreta (2021), Sant’Anna (1996).
