On the extraeconomic grounds of racism in Brazil

Abstract

We seek to understand which are the grounds that remain normalizing the racist practices in Brazil in the 21st century. We identify that racial inequality remains in the social structure upon an extraeconomic dimension. The structural violence originary from the ancient slavery mode of production remains intense, in the form of cultural violence, which legitimates and naturalizes the reproduction of a racist society. Capitalism takes advantage of racism, but it is not the primary source of that discrimination.
