EDITORIAL EDITORIAL

During the last Encounter of Scientific Editors of the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (Encontro do Editores Científico da ABEC – Associação Brasileira de Editores Científicos), one of the foreign speakers approached the hypothesis of publishing articles presented in congresses. This idea, new for some, has been one of the objectives of REM for some time: that is, to support those who are related to the sectors covered by this magazine, as for example IBRAM (Brazilian Mining Institute), SBGq (Brazilian Society for Geochemistry), SBG-MG (Brazilian Society of Geology-Minas Gerais), ABINOX (Brasialian Stainless Steel Association), universities, student organizations, etc. through the publishing of their research, events, etc. Several issues of REM have been dedicated to events.

In this issue, REM supports IBRAM and the Engineering Department of the Federal University of Minas Gerais by publishing the best articles from the 8th Brazilian Congress for Open Pit Mining, Underground Mining, and Mineral Economics. This latter was a Workshop on resources and reserves.

For this event, 94 technical works were accepted, of which 58 were from educational institutions, and the remaining 36 were from companies, public institutions, private entities and independent consultants. From this total, a technical-scientific committee chose the best 12 articles and these are published in this issue of REM.
