Profitability of maize and beans submitted to different irrigation depths in Mato Grosso

Abstract

Quantifying water consumption for irrigation is essential to optimize water use and contribute to the achievement of economic efficiency, and can be articulated with planning and management strategies. The objective of this research is to quantify the variable cost of irrigation management and the yield of maize and beans along with the economy of water resource in Mato Grosso State, Brazil. Data were collected from the irrigation slides for maize and beans, from production costs and revenues from sales through Imea and Conab data referring to the 2015/2016 crop. Data were submitted to the Benefit / Cost Ratio (B / C) for profitability analysis purposes, and an analysis of efficiency water use. The 190 mm blade for maize irrigation and the 522.17 mm blade for bean irrigation are the best slides to be applied by the producer, aiming economic and environmental balance, since they presented greater efficiency in the water use together with the higher rate of profitability compared to other slides.
