ABSTRACT
In this essay we intend to explore the French and European references, principally in the correspondence between Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Mário de Andrade e Manuel Bandeira, in the 1920s, focusing on the imaginaries concocted with the ideas of “here” (Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, América Latina) and “there” (France, Europe). We will also formulate a hypothesis about “internal” and “external” literary criticism, involving this correspondence.
