The exemplary qualities of Alexander von Humboldt’s works

ABSTRACT

The exemplary qualities of Humboldt’s works studied in this article are: a scientific and aesthetic view of nature, the description of typical landscapes, the valorization of indigenous cultures, the political essays on Cuba and Mexico, his critique of enslavement and defense of colonial independence, the comparison between continents and a view of our planet in the universe. His main legacy: environment preservation and peaceful coexistence among peoples.
