ABSTRACT
This article discusses the life, academic performance and intellectual production of Maria Christina Russi da Matta Machado, doctoral student of the University of Sao Paulo and author of “As táticas de guerra dos cangaceiros” (1969), a book published in full military dictatorship, which had considerable repercussions at the time, especially among the left-wing militants of the country.
