ABSTRACT

The diaries of naturalists in expeditions in Brazil, in the nineteenth century, form a framework for bibliographic research on various expeditions carried out in various parts of the country. This study sought, through the reading of travel reports, to get to know the landscapes of Brazil´s countryside in the 19th century, as well as the daily life of the populations. The results were grouped into categories and indicate similarities in the field experiences, as well as in the capturing of different natural and anthropic landscape.
