Abstract:
This article is derived from the master's thesis entitled “Teaching work, Health and Gender: A Study in an Academic Unit of a Federal University”. The object of study is one of the categories found in the results of the research on the relations between work, health and gender according to the perspective of the teachers of a teaching unit in the health area of a federal public university in Rio de Janeiro. In the aforementioned research, 13 university professors were interviewed and the Marxist and Marxian approach was taken as a theoretical framework, in addition the data analysis technique was dialectical hermeneutics. The implications of the political and economic situation for higher education and its effects on teaching work was recurrent in the speech of teachers and elected for this article due to its relevance in the current political context of profound changes in public higher education and in teaching work.
