Throughout the last few years, the Revista de Psiquiatria do Rio Grande do Sul (RPRS) has consolidated its role as an important benchmark within the scientific community. Its graphic layout has become more modern and the selection of manuscripts accepted for publication has been more strict. We also implemented an online submission system (2006), which changed the article submission procedure.

After our journal was indexed in the SciELO and PsycINFO databases, our commitment to quality has grown even stronger. We have been trying to make sure that the journal is published with constant periodicity and a good time-keeping, which, in conjunction with the implementation of the online submission system, significantly increased the amount of original articles submitted. Our journal has been available on the Internet, and the printed version has been delivered only to the members of Associação de Psiquiatria do Rio Grande do Sul (APRS) (since 2008).

We still have many challenges to face, such as that of being indexed in the ISI and PubMed databases. Our journal keeps on with its journey towards improvement and its institutional mission. More than everything else, the quality achieved by the RPRS brings benefits to the psychiatric community and is reflected in the quality of care provided to patients.

The RPRS would like to thank its editors, the members of the editorial board and the reviewers. And, above all, we would like to thank the authors, who provided significant contributions to the evolution of our journal during these past years.

There are no conflicts of interest associated with the publication of this editorial.
