Development and validation of an instrument to measure Self-Perceived Health in adults

ABSTRACT

To elaborate an instrument to measure Self-Perception of Health in adults and its validation by experts. Methodological study consisting of two phases: the first was the development of the instrument from the literature review; the second was content validation, with evaluation of the instrument by nine experts, health professionals. For analysis, were calculated Content Validity Index (CVI=0.78), binomial test (p>0.05), and Kappa coefficient (=0.61). Initially, the instrument was composed of 25 items, arranged in three dimensions. One item was eliminated (CVI = 0.56) and three questions were added suggested by the experts. At the end, the instrument was organized into 26 items divided into three dimensions. The total CVI of the instrument was 0.84 and Kappa equal to 0.83. The instrument showed satisfactory content validity which ensured its reliability for the external validation.
