ABSTRACT
Qualitative research aimed to examine forms of care, in the perception of the worker of Primary Attention, provided to users with mental disorder, in the municipality of Cristália, Minas Gerais. Semi-structured interviews, with ten workers of primary care were conducted, recorded and fully transcribed. The review process focused discourse analysis and empirical categories were identified and described. It was possible to perceive that there is a view toward the medicalization as the only form of treatment. Also, there is an opinion that people with mental disorder are dangerous people. It was concluded that is essential that the team of Family Health Program works in health promotion, improving care, making it possible to maintain a good level of understanding about the development of the actions involved in becoming mentally illness.
