'Bad trip' is a possible consequence of the use and abuse of psychoactive substances. This article discusses the meaning produced about 'bad trip', as well as conceptualization, prevention strategies, harm reduction and using modalities. The qualitative research was realized in seven interviews with seven subjects. The collected data was analyzed with reference to the theoretical methodical approach of discursive practice. Concerning the definition of a 'bad trip', the experience is qualified as subjective, uncomfortable, agonizing and apprehensive, which led to a change of using modalities. In terms of prevention and harm reduction the need of planned use of psychoactive drugs, the importance of help, admission, relaxation as the pursuit for health institution are highlighted.
