Resumo em Inglês: Abstract: Due to the proximity of certain strands of constructionism to postmodernism, the term has been associated with idealistic positions and absolute relativism in the conceptualization of social reality. As the objectives of this article are linked to the discussion of three main axes - the definition of reality, the analysis of ideology, and the rejection of absolute relativism - it is argued that critical constructionism distances itself from idealism and relativism by conceiving social reality as the result of human action, mediated by language and social practices. Rejecting idealism, reductionist physicalism, and fatalism as expressions of essentialism, critical constructionism formulates an ontology of social reality based on contingency and human agency, emphasizing the role of the symbolic and the ideological in the sedimentation of historical and cultural arrangements. Likewise, it rejects ontological and moral relativism, according to which understanding reality as a construct would imply the irrefutable legitimacy of any construction. On the contrary, it affirms the conventional and arbitrary nature of institutions and shows that social orders can incorporate forms of domination, oppression, and exclusion that must be criticized and overcome. |

This paper aims to survey and discuss Leibniz’s definitions and uses of nothingness (nihil, le rien, le néant), especially in his middle writings. There are arguably three senses of nothingness in Leibniz’s essays from the late 1670s to the mid-1680s: (i) the concept that does not contain any other concept, (ii) the complete notion which contains the negation of every perfection, (iii) names without associated concepts. Leibniz also often speaks of nothingness as a kind of (iv) general inexistence. I will argue that both concepts (i) and (ii) are consistent and that (ii) is a negative counterpart to God’s complete notion. I, then, present some arguments in favor of the view that (ii) does exist in God’s understanding, yet cannot be instantiated, which entails that there are two non-coextensive senses of possibility, i.e., consistency and instantiability: There would be a complete notion which is not the complete notion of a (possible) individual substance. |

Resumo em Inglês: Abstract: This article proposes the concept of grammatical leverage as a neopragmatist and anticolonial model of normative, conceptual, and affective transformation within forms of life marked by domination and exploitation. Drawing on Wittgenstein (1953, 1969) and Brandom (1994, 2000), in dialogue with peripheral and quilombola perspectives (Nascimento 2021), we argue that reversing unjust language-games requires not only conceptual reconstruction but also affective reorientation-such as the conversion of shame into collective pride among oppressed groups. Inspired by Wittgenstein’s hinge epistemology, we understand grammar as a system of normative hinges, that is, fulcrums of meaning and value that sustain forms of life. To leverage grammar is to redirect these fulcrums, shifting tacit certainties that naturalize racial, patriarchal, and colonial hierarchies. We critically reinterpret Brandom’s semantic inferentialism and logical expressivism to include the affective and embodied dimensions of normativity, conceiving meaning as part of a shared inferential landscape. We propose five levels of normative resistance-from semantic awareness to grammatical sovereignty-and three modalities of leverage: interfixal (conceptual redefinition), inter-resistant (community creation), and inter-potent (affective reversal). Thus, to leverage grammar is to move the world: language ceases to be a site of captivity and becomes a territory of resistance, authorship, and collective self-determination. |

Resumo em Inglês: Abstract: The philosopher Ernst Bloch developed an investigative stance that can be called the hermeneutics of hope. A hermeneutics that, however, is not restricted to seeking hidden meanings behind some text, but that interprets and analyzes the tendencies-latencies contained in reality itself, thus becoming real-objective. Through it, it becomes possible to identify, prospect and stimulate subversive utopian content contained in the so-called cultural surpluses of the present and that can be in the most diverse cultural, social and technical manifestations of humanity. Moreover, it enables us to identify content of hope in those non-contemporary aspects of reality, which can also be appropriated and inherited in order to support praxis. Bloch also suggests an evaluative reference for such interpretations: ‘to overthrow all the conditions in which man appears as a being humiliated, enslaved, abandoned, and despicable.’ The hermeneutics of hope, therefore, is a kind of guarantee for dialectical vitality in Ernst Bloch’s theory and, simultaneously, a philosophical and critical legacy for today. |

Resumo em Inglês: Abstract: This work analyzes the emergence of the theme of imagination in Paul Ricœur’s Freedom and Nature: The Voluntary and the Involuntary. Our starting point is the author’s questioning of the primacy of perception in phenomenology. Within the expanded domain of what he himself calls “total perception”, imagination emerges as a mediator of action in the project and as a support for the dynamism of desire. The projected or the wished-for inverts the presence of the real over the possible. Furthermore, the perceptible configuration of the world reveals itself to be inseparable from affective signs and from the orientation traced in advance by the image of the world’s motivating aspects. Attention develops within this field of perception, which is filled with affective values, and proves to be subject to the fascinating force of the imaginary. Our study highlights Ricœur’s conception of the productive and practical function of imagination. |

Resumo em Inglês: Abstract: In a media environment saturated with images and marked by armed conflicts that produce mass population displacements, it is crucial to examine the role that war images play in shaping empathy. From the perspective of embodied cognition and through phenomenological analysis, this article argues that such images do not operate solely as informative representations, but as tools that affect the lived experience of the viewer and actívate perceptual, affective, and practical schemas. The text articulates three levels of analysis: a phenomenology of the image, an overview of the phenomenology of empathy, and an examination of social interactions in contexts of extreme crisis. Based on this framework, it is argued that image-mediated empathy is grounded in shared bodily vulnerability and in processes of intersubjective synchronization that precede rational inference. This theoretical reflection is complemented by direct experiences of interaction and reception of refugees and people displaced by war, which allow us to observe how, in the face of the breakdown of the usual social scripts, practices of caring for others emerge based on embodied interactions and daily rituals. |
