This paper begins to question the false signature Alejo Carpentier to investigate his intellectual path and his intention to control the critical essays about his work. Firstly, this paper analyzes the letters from Alejo Carpentier to Roberto González Echevarría as a particular instant of the self-writing and the signature Alejo Carpentier. Secondly, this paper tries to consider the relationship between memory, self-writing and political commmitment.
