In 1996, the Brazilian Association of Power Electronics (SOBRAEP) Deliberative Council proposed the release of an Open Journal, focused on Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, called Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics). The first issue of the journal Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) was released in June 1996 (vol. 1, n. 1), with the main objective of disseminating the national research in the field of Power Electronics, not only in the academic circles, but also in the productive/industrial environment.

Major transformations were accomplished from 2003, both in terms of formatting, and, mainly, implementing a fully electronic system to submit and analyze papers for the Open Journal of Power Electronics, called the iSOBRAEP system.

The goal of increasing the visibility of the Open Journal of Power Electronics has become feasible with the development of the iSOBRAEP system, and with the transformation of the publication mainly to the electronic form, Open Access, distributed over the Internet, it was intended to increase the visibility of the Open Journal of Power Electronics, increasing its impact factor in bibliographical references.

In 2018, several improvements were made aiming for indexation in the Scopus Database. The submission system was moved to the well-known ScholarOne Manuscripts, and a new website was built, including the Journal database. Another improvement was the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) attribution to all published papers by the Open Journal of Power Electronics since its first edition in 1996.

Since December 2023, Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) uses the CC BY 4.0, and since January of 2024, the frequency of publication has been changed, and it is published continuously. Besides, our editorial policy follows the research communication in the Open Science modus operandi.

This Journal follows the Gold Open Access model.

The contribution of the EiC and Associate Editors is duly credited in the published manuscript. The Reviewers receive a statement of the manuscript's opinion and can also validate the activity in the Publons.

Before submitting the research, the authors must ensure they have followed all ethical guidelines regarding scientific integrity. They must also disclose any funding sources, such as research agencies. If applicable, the author must declare that the ethical principles were submitted to and approved by the institution's ethics committee. The author is solely responsible for complying with good ethical practices in research.

Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) adheres to the ethical codes of SciELO, including the "Guide of Good Practices for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publication", the "Principles of Transparency and Good Practices in Academic Publications" recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the principles of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and the principles of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).

In line with the Open Science movement, the publication supports the use of preprint servers and accepts manuscripts previously deposited on trusted servers such as SciELO Preprints: https://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/user/register

The article must be submitted through the ScholarOne Manuscripts system, using the link SUBMIT A MANUSCRIPT. Authors are strongly encouraged to prepare the manuscripts using the templates, access the Journal Templates. All articles, including those previously made available as preprints, will be subject to the same peer review process applied to manuscripts submitted directly to the journal.

The text previously published in preprint must be correctly cited, and this information needs to be provided in the submission process. Besides, we recommend that authors verify that they effectively hold the copyright of the text.

It is recommend three reviewers, and in special conditions at least two reviewers, be assigned by the Associate Editor to each manuscript based on their technical expertise. The journal adopts single-blinded peer review (anonymous peer review). The decision is taken based on the reviewers recommendation which the manuscript receives during the review process.

The peer review carried by the Journal follows the Ethical Guidelines of COPE. The main points are:
• Reviewed articles are treated confidentially;
• Authors who have benefited from the peer review process should consider becoming peer reviewers of the journal;
• The reviewer must agree to review a paper only if he/she has the necessary expertise to assess the manuscript and can be unbiased in his/her assessment;
• Any potential competing, or conflicting, interests must be declared by the reviewer or editors. If the reviewers/editors are unsure about a potential competing interest that may prevent them from reviewing, it is important to decline the invitation to review;
• A conflict of interest is mainly characterized by the reviewer or editor that work or have worked recently with one of the authors of the paper. A close relationship can also represent a conflict of interest;
• If during the review process the editor identifies a conflict of interest between authors and a reviewer, he/she must exclude the revision. If a conflict of interest is identified after the publication, the Editor Chief must investigate if that review was crucial for the paper acceptance and take ethical actions;
• Articles authored by a member of the editorial team are independently peer reviewed; an editor will have no input or influence on the peer review process or publication decision for their own article;
• Reviewers must not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the entire paper revision. AI may be used just as a tool to help with the review.

In line with Open Science communication practices, the Journal can open the peer review process, if required by the corresponding author and in agreement with the reviewer. Besides, the final version of the approved article will be published with the name of the Associate Editor responsible for the manuscript evaluation process. 

Our editorial policy follows the research communication in the Open Science modus operandi. The journal encourages the sharing of the measurements, analysis datasets, instruments, statistical analysis scripts, and additional materials, made available at Open online repositories, such as Guide to promoting the opening, transparency and reproducibility of research published by SciELO Journals and this information must be indicated in the manuscript. As a result, manuscripts that communicate research should indicate and reference the availability of the contents underlying the elaboration of the research and the results obtained. Manuscripts must be accompanied by a data availability statement for the data used or generated in the research underlying the texts.

It is important to note that the Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) encourages its authors to share all the data in the manuscript. Including publishing them, when available and authorized, in full, in an open access repository. In order to guarantee total transparency of the data obtained, Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) requires the author/s to declare that, for data not made available or deposited in open access repositories, it must be made available on request.

Papers submitted for publication to the Open Journal of Power Electronics should have, preferably, eight pages. Papers with a higher number of pages (more than eight) must pay an overlength page charge before its publication.  Publication and overlength page charges are shown in the following table:

In summary, the publication fees for the journal vary based on the corresponding author's affiliation with SOBRAEP. For effective and student SOBRAEP members with no late payments, publication is free of charge, though an additional fee of R$ 250,00 per extra page applies to papers with more than eight pages. Non-members, as well as SOBRAEP members with late payments, are required to pay a publication fee of R$ 300,00, in addition to the same extra page fee of R$ 250,00. Research misconduct: 
Any allegation of misconduct of editors, reviewers or authors is seriously investigated by the journal. In case of a suspicion of misconduct of reviewers or authors, the Editor Chief is responsible for taking actions to verify if the allegation is true and proceed with the exclusion of the revision (reviewers case) or withdrawal of the paper (authors case). If the editorial team is accused of misconduct, the president of Brazilian Association of Power Electronics (SOBRAEP) is responsible for investigating and taking the actions according to the faults (e-mail: presidente@sobraep.org.br).

Publish corrections: Editors must always publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when needed.

Policy against plagiarism and misconduct: The Editors repudiate the publication of articles where research misconduct has occurred, including plagiarism, manipulation of citations, falsification/fabrication of data, among others. In the event of a lack of ethics and misconduct, Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics), through its editors, undertakes to take serious measures to identify, curb, and prevent malicious actions. Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) complies with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, which aim to encourage the identification of plagiarism, malpractice, fraud, possible breaches of ethics and the initiation of proceedings. Therefore, all texts are inspected in an anti-plagiarism program. We suggest that authors visit the COPE website http://publicationethics.org, which contains information for authors and editors on research ethics. In the case of research involving human beings, send a supplementary document containing the research subjects' Free and Informed Consent Form (TCLE) or the ethics committee's approval report; ensure that articles containing data acquisition or analysis and interpretation of data from other publications are explicitly referenced. When writing articles that contain a critical review of the intellectual content of other authors, these should be duly cited. All authors must meet the criteria of unpublished authorship of the article, and none of the researchers involved in the research may be omitted from the list of authors.

Manuscript withdrawal: Only used for manuscripts accepted for publication but not formally published, as well as without complete volume and number information. Sometimes, documents may represent violations of professional ethics codes, such as multiple submissions, plagiarism, or dishonest use of data. In these cases, the documents can be withdrawn from Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics). Withdrawn means that the content of the paper is removed and replaced with a PDF informing that the paper has been withdrawn in accordance with the policy of the Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics).

If the editor or editors of a journal are informed of any allegation of research misconduct related to an article published in Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics), the publisher or the other editors will follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to deal with the allegations, i.e. guided by the principles and standards recommended by COPE, the international reference organization for integrity and ethics in scientific publications, there is an extraordinary emergency meeting to deal with the issue. The editorial process is guided by the selection and publication criteria, adopting conduct and ethics, in accordance with https://publicationethics.org/files/Code_of_conduct_for_journal_editors_Mar11.pdf. 

Journal's options for post-publication discussions and corrections: Once the evaluation has been completed, the article goes through iThenticate to check for the absence of similarities. The journal assumes responsibility for publishing corrections, clarifications, retractions and other clarifications that may be necessary using the CrossMark tool. Therefore, if an error is identified after an article has been published, it may need to be updated with additional data, corrections, retractions or its complete removal. CrossMark, a Crossref multi-publisher initiative, provides a standard way for readers to locate the current version of updated content.

By applying the CrossMark logo to the metadata and PDF file, Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) is committing to maintaining the content it publishes and alerting readers to changes when they occur. With one click, you can see whether content has been updated, corrected or withdrawn, and access additional valuable metadata provided by the member, such as important publication dates (submission, review, acceptance), authors' ORCID IDs, content type, plagiarism, screening status and information on funding, license, peer review and research data location.

For Crossmark purposes, there are two categories of updates: minor and major changes. Minor changes include formatting and spelling corrections for which there are no substantive changes that need to alert the reader, so the CrossMark status is current. Significant changes affect the CrossMark status of the work, so it is considered good practice to publish a correction or retraction notice (with its own DOI) and not put it behind access control. This allows readers to follow the link on the Crossmark button and find more details about the update. Both procedures generate the publication of a new document, classified as an erratum or retraction, which records the correction of the error or the reason for retracting the article, always making reference to the original.

In the case of an erratum, Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) keeps the original document and at the end of the text the correction is recorded with reference to the document that published the erratum. In the case of retractions, the original document is replaced by a message stating that it has been retracted, with reference to the retraction document. 

How the journal will deal with complaints and appeals: In the event of complaints, queries or suggestions, users can contact the editors via the email available in the Journal platform's contact field: editor@sobraep.org.br. All complaints, doubts and suggestions will be discussed at an ordinary meeting, or an extraordinary emergency meeting in the event of a report of misconduct, so that the facts can be investigated immediately and the most appropriate decision taken, taking into account Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) ethics and retraction policy. 

Journal policy on ethical supervision: the journal Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) is committed to guaranteeing integrity at all stages of the editorial process, safeguarding those involved. Therefore, in cases involving suspicions of misconduct, the journal will investigate in order to ensure high standards of scientific and ethical rigor, so that all doubts are resolved in the best possible way. If there is any complaint or observation of misconduct committed by any of those involved during the editorial process, we will halt the process for the due investigation, with prior notice to all those involved. The evaluation process will only continue if misconduct is not proven. In the event of misconduct on the part of authors, the article will be withdrawn from the evaluation process, and the journal may, by decision of the editorial board, refuse to receive future submissions from the author(s). When the misconduct is carried out by one or more of the editors, they will be removed from their duties at the journal. And if the misconduct is committed by an ad hoc reviewer, he/she will not make any further contributions to the journal and his/her role as a reviewer will be deactivated.

Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) requires all authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any potential sources of conflict of interest, whether of a personal, commercial, political, academic, or financial nature. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers, or editors have interests that could influence the preparation or evaluation of articles.

Any interest or relationship, financial or otherwise, that can be perceived to influence the objectivity of an author, reviewer, or editor is considered a potential source of conflict of interest. These should be disclosed when relevant or directly related to the work that authors, reviewers, or editors carry out in producing or evaluating articles. Potential sources of conflict of interest include, but are not limited to, employment with or financing by a commercial entity, ownership of patents or shares, membership of a company's board of directors, membership of an advisory board or committee, consulting for or receipt of fees involving members of the editorial process, academic favoritism or collegiality, among others.

These interests should be communicated not only by the authors, but by everyone involved in the editorial process of a manuscript. Editors and reviewers should avoid making decisions about manuscripts that conflict with their own interests, such as those submitted by authors in their department or research collaborators.

The existence of a conflict of interest does not necessarily exclude publication, as long as it does not interfere with the quality of the editorial process. If authors, reviewers, or editors have no conflict of interest to declare, they should simply confirm this declaration when submitting a manuscript or accepting a review assignment.

• Any potential competing or conflicting interest must be declared by the reviewer or editors. If the reviewers/editors are unsure about a potential competing interest that may prevent they from reviewing, it is important to decline the invitation to review;

The discovery of a failure to adequately disclose a conflict of interest at submission or during the review process may result in the rejection of the article or other sanctions for authors, reviewers, or editors. 

Authors should ensure that they have written original works, and, if the authors used works of other authors, these must be properly cited.

All accepted manuscripts will be screened for Similarity Check software - Powered by iThenticate. The authors who submit manuscripts with more than 20% of duplicated or similar content, excluding the reference text, will be notified asking for text revision by the Editorial-in-Chief.

Artificial Intelligence can be used as part of the research conducted if clearly stated in the paper. The use of AI for writing the paper or part of it is denied in the Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics). AI may be used just as a tool to help the text revision, but always with human verification.

The Editorial Team of the Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) Journal, in addition to the authors who publish in the journal, must always observe the guidelines on Sex and Gender Equity in Research – SAGER. The SAGER guidelines comprise a set of guidelines that guide the reporting of information about sex and gender in study design, data analysis, and results and interpretation of findings.

Authorship: The authorship is defined according to ICMJE. All the authors must be involved in the work and should be in place to provide the requirements for authorship and contributorship. By accepting the paper submission, all authors declare that they agree to the publication of the results in the form submitted and they can provide additional proofs of the results if the reviewers or editors require it. The editorial team judges potential disputes. Change of authorship is just accepted after the first submission, if all the authors send a formal letter to the Editor-in-Chief. In this letter, it is mandatory to describe the contribution of each author and the reason for the demanded change. 

Author's contributions: The journal adopts the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to provide detailed and standardised descriptions of each author's contributions to a research article. CRediT offers a comprehensive framework that clearly defines specific roles such as conceptualisation, methodology, software, validation, formal analysis, investigation, resources, data curation, writing – original draft, writing – review & editing, visualisation, supervision, project administration, and funding acquisition. By using CRediT, we aim to ensure transparency and give proper recognition to each contributor's efforts, enhancing the clarity and fairness in the attribution of scholarly work.

Errors in published papers: When errors are detected in a published paper, it is the obligation of all authors to notify the Editor-in-Chief (editor@sobraep.org.br) and cooperate to correct the paper. If third parties report errors, the authors must investigate and cooperate for the correction.

Appropriate recognition of sources: The authors are obliged to include the list of references and the financial support, according to the template of the Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics).

Manuscripts submitted to Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) should not be under consideration for publication in another journal. The main article types are listed below, and a comprehensive list of article types can be found here—please note that not all article types are available for all disciplines.

Original paper: These are original research manuscripts. The work should report scientifically sound experiments and provide a substantial amount of new information. The article should include the most recent and relevant references in the field.

Review paper: Reviews offer a comprehensive analysis of the existing literature within a field of study, identifying current gaps or problems. They should be critical and constructive and provide recommendations for future research. No new, unpublished data should be presented.

Special section: Researchers can propose for the Editorial Board Special Sections on topics that are at the vanguard of the acknowledgment. It is necessary at least two Guest Editors to submit a proposal for the Editor-in-Chief (editor@sobraep.org.br) describing the Title of the Special Issue, the main topics that will be accepted and the deadlines to submission. Contributions to the Special Section are subject to peer review and benefit from comments and editorial guidance from the guest editors. 
Papers presented at conferences will be accepted if they are extended with additional results or new findings. These articles will be subject to the peer review process.

Letters: Should be concise, focusing on a specific, noteworthy aspect of power electronics. They can discuss recent advancements and introduce new ideas briefly. Letters are shorter than full papers, limited to 4 pages (including the final version).

Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) endorses the CRediT taxonomy (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) and asks the authors to provide detailed information about individual contributions to the work. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that all authors' contributions are correct, and it is expected that all authors will have reviewed, discussed, and agreed to their contributions as shared by the submitting author. Format and save your graphics using a suitable graphics processing program that will allow you to create the images as PostScript (PS), Encapsulated PostScript (.EPS), Tagged Image File Format (.TIFF), Portable Document Format (.PDF), or Portable Network Graphics (.PNG) sizes them, and adjusts the resolution settings. If you created your source files in one of the following programs you will be able to submit the graphics without converting to a PS, EPS, TIFF, PDF, or PNG file: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Excel. Though it is not required, it is strongly recommended that these files be saved in PDF format rather than DOC, XLS, or PPT. Doing so will protect your figures from common font and arrow stroke issues that occur when working on the files across multiple platforms. When submitting your final paper as .DOCX or .DOC format, your graphics should all be submitted individually in one of these formats along with the manuscript.

Most charts, graphs, and tables are one column wide (3.5 inches / 88 millimeters) or page wide (7.16 inches / 181 millimeters). The maximum depth a graphic can be is 8.5 inches (216 millimeters). When choosing the depth of a graphic, please allow space for a caption. Figures can be sized between column and page widths if the author chooses, however it is recommended that figures are not sized less than column width unless when necessary.

1. Figure Axis Labels

Figure axis labels are often a source of confusion. Use words rather than symbols. As an example, write the quantity “Magnetization,” or “Magnetization M ,” not just “M .” Put units in parentheses. Do not label axes only with units. As in Fig. 1, for example, write “Magnetization (A/m)” or “Magnetization (A m−1),” not just “A/m.” Do not label axes with a ratio of quantities and units. For example, write “Temperature (K),” not “Temperature/K.”
Multipliers can be especially confusing. Write “Magnetization (kA/m)” or “Magnetization (103 A/m).” Do not write “Magnetization (A/m) ×1000” because the reader would not know whether the top axis label in Fig. 1 meant 16000 A/m or 0.016 A/m. Figure labels should be legible, approximately 8 to 10 point type.

2. Subfigure Labels in Multipart Figures and Tables

Multipart figures should be combined and labeled before final submission. Labels should appear centered below each subfigure in 8 point Times New Roman font in the format of (a) (b) (c).

All the references must be in accordance with the IEEE References Guide, and  for consistency, we recommend using units, symbols, and abbreviations in accordance with  IEEE Standard.

Number citations consecutively in square brackets [1]. The sentence punctuation follows the brackets [2]. Multiple references [2], [3] are each numbered with separate brackets [1]–[3]. When citing a section in a book, please give the relevant page numbers [2]. In sentences, refer simply to the reference number, as in [3]. Do not use “Ref. [3]” or “reference [3]” except at the beginning of a sentence: “Reference [3] shows ... .” 

Give all authors’ names; do not use “et al.” unless there are six authors or more. Use space after authors’ initials. Papers that have not been published should be cited as “unpublished” [4]. Papers that have been accepted for publication, but not yet specified for an issue should be cited as “to be published” [5]. Papers that have been submitted for publication should be cited as “submitted for publication” [6]. Papers published should be cited as [7] or [8]. For all the papers that present a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), this information must be included in the reference.
