ABSTRACT We determined and drew on a current map the path of d. Pedro on September 7, 1822: from Santos, as if drawn to Ipiranga, and from Ipiranga impelled to São Paulo. To this end, we use the four accounts of the Independence of Brazil that we consider to be the main ones, since they are from people who accompanied the prince regent on that day. There are coincidences and divergences, which we try to analyze, settle, and harmonize whenever possible. Other later articles were considered that analyzed the subject in depth, established doubts and questions, and made their hypotheses, not always correct. The other main novelty of this work is the spatialization of the journey, which was not explored by previous works, except for a work from 1909, repeated in 1972, but containing errors and which could be improved. We also used several historical maps from 1832, 1900, 1930, and current ones, with emphasis on the site of Ipiranga.

RESUMO Determinamos e desenhamos sobre um mapa atual o caminho de d. Pedro no dia 7 de setembro de 1822: de Santos, como que atraído para o Ipiranga, e do Ipiranga impelido a São Paulo. Para isso, valemo-nos dos quatro relatos da Independência que consideramos principais, por serem de pessoas que acompanharam o príncipe regente nesse dia. Constatamse coincidências e divergências, que procuramos analisar, dirimir e harmonizar quando possível. Foram tidos em conta outros trabalhos posteriores que analisaram com profundidade o assunto, estabeleceram dúvidas e questionamentos e aventaram suas hipóteses, nem sempre acertadas. A principal outra novidade deste trabalho é a espacialização da jornada, que não foi explorada por estudos anteriores, exceto por um trabalho de 1909, repetido em 1972, mas que contém erros e que pode ser melhorado. Servimo-nos também de diversos mapas históricos de 1832, de 1900, de 1930 e de mapas atuais, com ênfase no local do Ipiranga.

RESUMO Ensaio de reconstituição histórica do sítio pelo qual passou D. Pedro I no dia 7 de setembro de 1822, em que analisamos não só o caminho que ele percorreu, mas também os locais destacados, no sítio do Ipiranga, tendo em conta as diversas reformas ao longo do tempo. Realizamos uma revisão crítica das diversas tentativas de demarcar o lugar onde aconteceu a Independência do Brasil: nota-se que houve uma série de enganos ao longo do tempo e muita confusão nas explicações. Foi feito um esforço para desenvolver uma narrativa linear e esclarecer pontos obscuros ou confusos. Para isso servimo-nos da iconografia histórica: telas, fotos e mapas. Estes últimos, com a ajuda de programas de cartografia digital, puderam ser superpostos a mapas atuais para a determinação dos pontos de interesse. Ao longo do texto e ao final, são feitas considerações sobre o sentido de determinar esse local, com maior ou menor precisão.

ABSTRACT This work consists of a historical reconstruction essay of the site through which D. Pedro I passed on September 7, 1822. Besides investigating the path he treaded, this essay also approaches the highlighted points on the Ipiranga site, considering the various reforms they have gone through over time. A critical review of the numerous attempts to demarcate the place where Brazil’s independence took place evinced a series of mistakes over time and considerable confusion in the explanations. In an attempt to develop a linear narrative and clarify obscure or confounding points, this study relies on historical iconography: paintings, photos, and maps - which were superimposed on current maps to determine the points of interest with the aid of digital mapping programs. Throughout the text, a series of considerations are made about the purpose and the meaning of determining this location, with a greater or lesser precision.

RESUMO O presente trabalho analisa o primeiro trecho do Diário de José Custódio de Sá e Faria, concretamente o caminho feito por terra, em quatro dias, entre São Paulo e Araritaguaba (Porto Feliz), que prosseguiria por rios até o Forte de Iguatemi. O foco são os cinco mapas que delineiam o trajeto percorrido nesses dias. O texto desse borrão, primeira versão feita durante a viagem, foi transcrito e comparado com outras versões do Diário e do mapa, em apêndice documental comentado. Uma análise das informações latentes permitiu determinar em detalhe esse antigo caminho que data de tempos imemoriais, provavelmente do século XVI. Desenvolveu-se uma metodologia de trabalho para essa determinação que pode ser aplicada em outros casos e torna-se particularmente interessante em um momento em que os órgãos responsáveis pelo patrimônio realizam tombamentos de caminhos.

ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the first strecht of the Diary of José Custódio de Sá e Faria, specifically the 4-day overland route between São Paulo and Araritaguaba (Porto Feliz), which would continue along rivers to Iguatemi Fort. The focus is on the five maps that outline the route traveled these days. The text of this draft, the first version made during the trip, was transcribed and compared with other versions of the Diary and the associated map, in a commented documentary appendix. An analysis of latent information has allowed us to determine in detail this ancient path dating from time immemorial, probably from the 16th century. A working methodology has been developed for this determination, which can be applied in other cases and becomes particularly interesting at a time when the organizations responsible for Heritage carry out memory preservation.

Abstract: This study compares in quantitative terms two methods of differential corrections to GPS positioning from the code-based pseudoranges. The differential method calculated from the coordinates (Latitude, Longitude and Altitude), called Position-Domain DGPS, has simple implementation and easy transmission by the correction vector. The second method, called Pseudorange-Domain DGPS has a more elaborate algorithm, focused on the pseudorange correction for each visible satellite, which consumes more processing time and increases the complexity in the transmission of the corrections. Notwithstanding a few variations from this DGPS techniques proposed, this work intends to verify in a numeric way the bias and precision offered by these two well-known methods in different devices and situations, to assess in which context each method would be more advantageous when one what to apply a simple DGPS correction; showing how much is the gain by way of bias the more elaborated method is. The results demonstrate that in favorable conditions, the Position-Domain offered an improvement of approximately 50% in positioning, 35% in dispersion, but without any significant bettering in altimetry or in the maximum values; wile the Pseudorange-Domain method showed 70% in positioning, 75% in precision, 60% for maximum values and numbers close to zero on average altimetry.

RESUMO O presente trabalho apresenta alguns conceitos e diversas aplicações da tecnologia Laser Scan 3D (LS3D) para o levantamento de monumentos, peças de museu e esculturas, visando a obtenção de modelos, maquetes virtuais, filmes, exposições virtuais e maquetes em resina. Complementa-se, em alguns casos, com os levantamentos aerofotogramétricos com drone e situa-se na área que vem sendo conhecida como realidade virtual ou realidade aumentada.

ABSTRACT This study introduces some concepts and several applications of 3D Laser Scan (3DLS) for the survey of monuments, museum pieces, and sculptures, aiming at obtaining models, virtual models, films, virtual exhibitions, and resin models. In some cases, laser scan is complemented by drone aerial surveys, which lies within the field currently known as virtual reality or augmented reality.

RESUMO Este trabalho tem como objetivo aprofundar o estudo do mapa da viagem de D. Luis de Céspedes Xeria da vila de São Paulo de Piratininga a Ciudad Real de Guayrá, na Província do Paraguai, em 1628. Para tanto, recorremos a fontes primárias como os manuscritos da Coleção De Angelis, mantidos na Biblioteca Nacional no Rio de Janeiro, bem como aos manuscritos do Archivo General de Indias, em Sevilha, incluindo a ampla documentação escrita e sobretudo as duas versões disponíveis do documento cartográfico produzido por Céspedes Xeria em 1628. Em seguida comparamos a cópia encomendada por Affonso d’Escragnolle Taunay em 1917 com ambos originais seiscentistas remanescentes, aferindo-se a fidelidade dessa cópia com um dos originais. Analisamos ainda as representações cartográficas dos povoamentos representados no mapa, que em 1938 suscitaram discussões públicas entre Taunay e Benedito Carneiro Bastos Barreto, o Belmonte, concluindo que todos são símbolos cartográficos ou ícones padronizados em vez de representações baseadas na aparência dos edifícios tal como eram quando foram visitados por Céspedes Xeria na primeira metade do século XVII. Durante este processo distinguimos dois momentos do historiador Taunay: o primeiro revela sua preocupação com a fidelidade ao copiar documentos, e o segundo, a plasticidade de interpretação na análise e utilização desses documentos.

ABSTRACT The following paper aims to deepen the studies about the map of the travel made by D. Luis de Céspedes Xeria from the town of São Paulo de Piratininga to the Ciudad Real de Guayrá, in the Province of Paraguay, in 1628. For this, we used primary sources such as the manuscripts of the De Angelis Collection, kept in the National Library in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the manuscripts of the Archivo General de Indias, in Seville, including the extensive written documentation and, specially, the two available versions of the cartographic document made by Céspedes Xeria, in 1628. We then compared the copy commissioned by Affonso d’Escragnolle Taunay, in 1917, with both of the seventeenth-century remaining originals, concluding for its fidelity to one of them. In addition, we analyzed the cartographic representations of the settlements represented in the map, which aroused, in 1938, public discussions between Taunay and Benedito Carneiro Bastos Barreto, also known as Belmonte, coming up to the conclusion that all of them are cartographic symbols or standardized icons rather than representations based on the appearance of the buildings such as they were when they were visited by Céspedes Xeria in the first half of the seventeenth century. During this process it was possible to distinguish two different moments of the historian Taunay: the first, his concerning for fidelity in copying documents; and the second, a plasticity of interpretation in the moment of analyze and use these same documents.

Resumo: Em muitos países, o controle da acurácia posicional, feita por pontos, em Cartografia, corresponde à comparação entre conjuntos de coordenadas de pontos bem definidos em relação ao mesmo conjunto de pontos obtido a partir de uma fonte mais precisa. Normalmente, cada país fixa um número admissível de pontos que podem apresentar erros acima de um limite pré-estabelecido. Em muitos casos, as normas definem o tamanho da amostra (20 pontos), sem maiores considerações e fixam a condição de que somente 10% dos pontos pode ultrapassar certo limite. No entanto, a dimensão da amostragem (n), considerando o risco estatístico, especialmente quando os percentuais de outliers estão próximos de 10%, para mais ou para menos, conduzem a um risco do produtor (de rejeitar um bom mapa) e o risco do usuário (de aceitar um mapa ruim). Este artigo analisa esta questão e permite a definição da dimensão de amostragem considerando o risco do produtor e do usuário. O presente trabalho analisa essa questão e permite definir do tamanho da amostra em função do risco que o produtor / usuário pode ou quer assumir. Esta análise empregou 600 pontos de controle, sendo conhecido o erro em cada um deles. Realizamos as simulações com uma amostragem de 20 pontos (n) e calculamos o risco associado. A seguir fomos variando o valor de (n), para mais e para menos, calculando para cada situação o risco associado, para o usuário e para o produtor. Para fazer essas simulações foi desenvolvido um programa que construiu as curvas operacionais ou curvas de risco, que considera diversos parâmetros: o número de pontos de controle, o número de repetições para gerar as curvas, a porcentagem de pontos de controle que podem estar acima do PEC (Padrão de Exatidão Cartográfica) ou outro parâmetro similar, com base nas normas de outros países. Assim, foram gerados gráficos e tabelas que incorporam diferentes parâmetros, fornecendo condições de decisão para o usuário/produtor, bem como abertura de possibilidades para outras simulações e pesquisas.

Abstract: In many countries, the positional accuracy control by points in Cartography or Spatial data corresponds to the comparison between sets of coordinates of well-defined points in relation to the same set of points from a more accurate source. Usually, each country determines a maximum number of points which could present error values above a pre-established threshold. In many cases, the standards define the sample size as 20 points, with no more consideration, and fix this threshold in 10% of the sample. However, the sampling dimension (n), considering the statistical risk, especially when the percentages of outliers are around 10%, can lead to a producer risk (to reject a good map) and a user risk (to accept a bad map). This article analyzes this issue and allows defining the sampling dimension considering the risk of the producer and of the user. As a tool, a program developed by us allows defining the sample size according to the risk that the producer / user can or wants to assume. This analysis uses 600 control points, each of them with a known error. We performed the simulations with a sample size of 20 points (n) and calculate the associated risk. Then we changed the value of (n), using smaller and larger sizes, calculating for each situation the associated risk both for the user and for the producer. The computer program developed draws the operational curves or risk curves, which considers three parameters: the number of control points; the number of iterations to create the curves; and the percentage of control points above the threshold, that can be the Brazilian standard or other parameters from different countries. Several graphs and tables are presented which were created with different parameters, leading to a better decision both for the user and for the producer, as well as to open possibilities for other simulations and researches in the future.

RESUMO Analisam-se os limites das capitanias do sul (1534-1700), chegando a interessantes conclusões. As terras da Capitania de Santana, em função da estimativa que se faça para a longitude de Tordesilhas, ou pertenciam à Espanha ou formavam pequenas parcelas descontínuas. O limite norte da Capitania de São Tomé (Pero de Góis), definido por acordo entre os dois confrontantes, afetava um terceiro território, coisa que não se percebeu. O limite sul dessa capitania na carta de doação indicava uma linha correndo diretamente para oeste, enquanto que na de seu vizinho (Martim Afonso) indicava uma linha correndo a noroeste. Essa mesma direção também está definida para o limite sul desse lote, complicando a partição das terras. Essas fronteiras artificiais nunca foram demarcadas nem tidas em conta, e tanto os donatários como a Coroa foram criando vilas e cidades em terreno alheio: umas vezes por não levar em conta os limites das cartas de doação (São Paulo, Santana de Parnaíba, Mogi das Cruzes, São Sebastião, Taubaté, Paranaguá, por exemplo); outras por ocupação indevida, mas necessária (Rio de Janeiro); por dolo ou extrapolação de poderes (Cabo Frio); ou mesmo em terras de Castela (Curitiba). A isso veio somar-se a questão de jurisdição sobre a Capitania de Santo Amaro (a querela entre as casas de Monsanto e Vimieiro); a questão da extrapolação de jurisdição (Angra dos Reis e Paraty); e finalmente a má-fé e as tropelias de juízes, capitães-gerais e da Coroa. O entendimento dessas questões, facilitada pela cartografia histórica, permitiu revelar pontos desconhecidos da história das capitanias, explicar melhor a formação dos limites dos atuais Estados e aprofundar-se no entendimento dos conceitos da época para indicar o território: termo, sertões, fundos e outros.

ABSTRACT We analyze the limits of the southern Captaincies (1534-1700), reaching interesting conclusions. The Terras de Santana Captaincy, depending on the estimate of the longitude of the Tordesillas line, or belonged to Spain or are formed by small discrete portions. The northern limit of the Captaincy of São Tomé (Pero de Gois) defined by agreement between the two neighbors affected a third territory, something that was not perceived. The southern boundary of this Captaincy in the Donation Letter indicated a line running directly to the west, while in his neighbor Letter (Martim Afonso) indicated a line running northwest. This same direction is also set to the southern limit of that lot, complicating the partition of the lands. These artificial boundaries have never been demarcated or taken into account, and both the donatories, as the crown, were creating towns and cities in foreign land: sometimes for not taking into account the limits of the Donation Letters (São Paulo, Santana de Parnaiba, Mogi das Cruzes, São Sebastião, Taubaté, Paranaguá, for example); others by improper occupation, even when necessary (Rio de Janeiro); intentionally or extrapolation of powers (Cabo Frio); or even in the land of Castile (Curitiba). To this has added up the question of jurisdiction over the Captaincy of Santo Amaro (the quarrel between the houses of Monsanto and Vimieiro); the question of extrapolation jurisdiction (Angra dos Reis and Paraty) and finally the bad faith and mischief of judges, general captains and the crown. The understanding of these issues, facilitated by historical cartography, allows us to understand unknown point of the history of the captaincies; a better explain of the formation of the limits of current States and a deeper the understanding of the concepts of that time to indicate the territory: termo, sertão (hinterlands), fundos (funds) and others.

O presente trabalho estuda os produtos cartográficos associados ao Relatório Exploração do Rio Tietê, de 1905, obra publicada Comissão Geográfica e Geológica da Província de São Paulo. A expedição, da Barra do Rio Jacaré-Guassú ao Rio Paraná, deu origem ao mapeamento do Rio Tietê, que junto com outros, faz parte do esforço realizado por esse órgão para que não mais houvesse no mapa oficial da província de São Paulo uma grande região denominada “Sertão desconhecido habitado pelos índios”. A finalidade era não só cartografar, mas levantar as riquezas minerais, a geologia, focada nos tipos de solo e sua aptidão agrícola, e a navegabilidade dos rios para o transporte de pessoas e bens. São estudados os dados obtidos (altitudes, longitudes, declinações magnéticas), os levantamentos de caminhos, equipamentos utilizados, metodologia de trabalho e a Cartografia produzida: Mapa geral, Mapas parciais, Perfil, Seções e outros.

This paper studies the cartographic products associated with the Tiete River Exploration Report, (1905) published by the Geographical and Geological Committee of the São Paulo Province. The expedition, from the Bar of the Jacaré-Guassú River to the Paraná River, led to the mapping of the Tietê River, which, along with others, is part of the efforts made by this state agency so that there was no longer a great region called "Unknown hinterland inhabited by Indians" in the official map of the Province of Sao Paulo. The purpose was not only to map, but also to raise the mineral resources, the geology, focused on the types of soil and its agricultural potential, and the navigability of rivers for transporting people and goods. The data obtained are studied (altitudes, longitudes, magnetic declination), surveys paths, equipment used, work methodology and the Cartography produced: General Map, Partial Maps, Profile, Cross Sections and others.

Apresenta-se a aplicação da tecnologia Laser Scanner 3D terrestre ao levantamento do túnel de adutora, escavado em rocha. Depois de apresentar o local, é descrito o problema, que consiste no levantamento preciso do túnel para identificar e coletar dados para quantificar alterações na sua secção transversal com relação à secção prevista em projeto, para a posterior correção desses defeitos. São resumidos os principais métodos possíveis de levantamento, listando prós e contras de cada um. A seguir mostram-se os fundamentos dessa tecnologia de levantamento bem como a metodologia dos trabalhos de campo e de escritório, incluindo o cálculo das coordenadas dos pontos do túnel. Finaliza-se com o controle de qualidade e uma avaliação do método, indicando seus pontos fortes comparado com outras metodologias.

The application of a 3D laser scanning technology to the terrestrial survey of the water pipeline tunnel excavated in rock is presented. After identifying the place, we present the problem, which is the precise surveying of the tunnel to identify and collect data to quantify differences in the cross section of the tunnel with respect to the section provided in the project, for the correction of these defects. The main possible methods of survey, listing pros and cons of each one are summarized. In the sequence are shown the basis of this survey technology as well as the methodology of fieldwork and office, including the calculation of the coordinates of the points of the tunnel. The paper ends with the quality control and evaluation of the method, indicating its strengths compared to other methodologies

O presente artigo apresenta uma proposta do uso da Cartografia digital para a análise comparativa de mapas históricos, com eixos temáticos orientativos, utilizando como objeto de estudo 13 mapas antigos da cidade de São Paulo. Nessa proposta procurou se, como foco de análise, estabelecer relações entre a infraestrutura de transporte por trilhos e o processo de crescimento e estruturação da cidade de São Paulo no período de 1870 a 1930. Para tanto foram produzidos mapas temáticos a partir dos mapas selecionados e neles foram identificados os seguintes elementos: mancha urbana, bairros existentes, loteamentos planejados, traçado de caminhos, ferrovias, tramways e bondes. Comprovou-se de forma prática, que a Cartografia digital apoiada nos Sistemas de Informações Geográficas torna mais ágil a manipulação, a visualização e a sobreposição das informações contidas nos diferentes mapas históricos, facilitando o processo comparativo de análise do papel estruturante dos caminhos e trilhos na formação da malha urbana, hipótese de trabalho que se verificou ao final da pesquisa.

This article presents a proposal for using digital cartography applied to the comparative analysis of a series of 13 historical maps of São Paulo city. The analysis sought to establish links between the rail transport infrastructure and the process of structuring the city of São Paulo between 1870 and 1930. Therefore, we produced thematic maps from a selection of historical maps of the city and the following were identified: urban sprawl, existing neighborhoods, planned housing developments, paths design, railways and streetcars. It proved to be a practical way for digital cartography to be supported by Geographic Information Systems made more agile for handling, visualization and overlapping information in different historical maps, facilitating the comparative analysis process of the structuring role of paths and trails in the formation of the urban area, the work hypothesis verified at the end of the article.

RESUMO Partindo do conhecido mapa de Luís Teixeira, apresenta-se a evolução das capitanias hereditárias nos primeiros 50 anos. Constatou-se que esse mapa, apesar de seu valor histórico e cartográfico, possui diversos equívocos e inconsistências. Há enganos com relação às linhas divisórias, aos donatários e aos acontecimentos. Do ponto de vista cartográfico, como outros mapas da época, ele é suficientemente acurado em latitude, mas pouco em longitude. Com relação à datação, feita principalmente examinando-se os nomes dos donatários, pode-se dizer que coexistem dados de diferentes épocas, e a melhor explicação é de que o autor coletou dados numa época (1574) e depois atualizou algumas informações (1586), mas não todas. Para examinar essa questão, foi feita uma breve análise das vicissitudes desses territórios, cujas informações se encontram dispersas. Isso permitiu retificar alguns conhecimentos, como, por exemplo, o fato de a Capitania da Bahia, nos primeiros anos, ser formada unicamente pela cidade de Salvador, e que a categorização em vilas ou cidades não se dá pelo maior ou menor tamanho ou importância, mas pelo fato de serem criadas ou pelo donatário ou pela coroa. Esses enganos talvez possam ser explicados pelo caráter do mapa, comparável a alguns "roteiros" da época, e podem mostrar de forma concreta uma interessante lição já conhecida teoricamente: um mapa, por mais belo e histórico que seja, e por mais louvado que tenha sido, não pode ser considerado simploriamente como um retrato fiel da realidade, uma fotografia da época: como qualquer documento histórico, deve ser lido com cuidado e sentido crítico.

ABSTRACT By means of the known map of Luís Teixeira, we analyze the evolution of the hereditary captaincies in their first 50 years. It was found that this map, despite its historical and cartographic value, has several mistakes and inconsistencies. There are errors with regard to the border lines, donatories and historical events. From the cartographic point of view, as other maps of the time, it is quite accurate in latitude but not in longitude. With regard to the dating, task made mainly by the examination of the names of the donatories, it can be said that coexist data from different times and the best explanation for this is that the author collected the most data in 1574 and then updated some information in 1586, but not all. To examine this question, we made an analysis of the evolution of these territories, whose information are dispersed. And this propitiated rectify some knowledge; by example the fact that the Bahia captaincy, in the first years, be constituted only by the city of Salvador; and about the categorization of village or cities, that is not made in the base of the greater or lesser size or importance, but by the fact of be created by the donatory or by the crown. These mistakes may perhaps be explained by the character of the map, similar to some roteiros of the time, and show in a practical way an interesting lesson, yet known theoretically: a map, no matter how beautiful and how historical it is, it can not be considered as an accurate portrayal of the reality or as a photography of the time: as any historical document, should be read carefully and with critical sense.

Um dos primeiros mapas científicos da região amazônica (Le Cours de La Rivière des Amazones), elaborado por Nicolas Sanson, cartógrafo francês do século XVII, serviu de protótipo para muitos mapas da região. No entanto, a avaliação desse mapa, até o presente estudo, é que se trata de um mapa muito defeituoso, um esboço baseado em relato histórico, segundo uma apreciação de La Condamine que se difundiu até os nossos dias. Assim, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi provar que, pelo contrário, é um trabalho científico: um mapa que possui coordenadas geográficas precisas para a sua época, um meridiano de origem bem determinado e que empregou uma metodologia criativa para deduzir as longitudes a partir de latitudes e distâncias percorridas. Para isso foi feita uma análise da precisão desse mapa, comparando suas latitudes e longitudes com as de um mapa atual; bem como a determinação do meridiano de origem e a metodologia utilizada por esse cartógrafo para o cálculo das longitudes. A conclusão é que ele é um bom mapa para a época, tendo em conta as poucas informações de que o autor dispunha, e isso mostrou que são infundadas as apreciações negativas de La Condamine.

One of the first scientific maps of the Amazon region, The Course of the Amazon River (Le Cours de La Rivière des Amazones), was constructed by Nicolas Sanson, a French cartographer of the seventeenth century, and served as the prototype for many others. The evaluation of this chart, until now, has been that it is a very defective map, a sketch based on a historical account, according to the opinion of La Condamine. Thus, the aim of the present work was to prove that the map of the Amazon River traced by Nicolas Sanson is a scientific work, a map that presents precise geographic coordinates considering its time, shows a well-determined prime meridian, and also employs a creative methodology to deduce longitudes from latitudes and distances that had been covered. To show such characteristics, an analysis of the accuracy of the map was made by comparing its latitudes and longitudes with those of a current map. We determined the prime meridian of this map and analyzed the methodology used for the calculation of longitudes. The conclusion is that it is actually a good map for the time, particularly considering the technology and the limited information that Sanson had at his disposal. This proves that the negative assertion of La Condamine is unfounded.
