Subjection as a paradoxical process of power: from the psychic constitution to the ethics of desire

Abstract:

We will describe the paradoxical process of power that constitutes psychic subjection according to Judith Butler, and its relation to the psychic constitution in psychoanalysis. The interlocution between Butler and psychoanalysis is due to the fact that the author uses a psychoanalytical theoretical input in the development of ideas. We will see how power works in the internalization of the consciousness of guilt, and how ambivalent and dynamic the effects of power are in neurosis and processes of social subjection. Finally, we will see that this power operates in the fundamental order of things, from which the desire manifested in reality originates from an ethical action.
