The article uses two technical terms from Laban Movement Analysis - Pre-Effort and Shape Flow - to promote self-perception, body consciousness and the development of subtle movement qualities. The Laban System is presented in its four categories - Body, Effort, Shape and Space - and detailed in the two selected items, in relation to technical terminology and to their use in the classroom and onstage. Following that, Pre-Effort and Shape Flow are applied to choreography through Authentic Movement technique, from improvisations during the creative process until the presentation of interarts pieces.
