ABSTRACT:
This article seeks to investigate the implantation of special education in an inclusive perspective, in a municipality in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. Documents, Brazilian education official data and researches that address special education in this region were consulted. The analyses show, at one hand, the entrenchment of the municipal system and the empowerment of special education, mainly after 2004, and at another, the limits of the care provided to special students as close as the limits of the care provided in general.
