ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to evaluate a drying schedule for Eucalyptus viminalis. Two trees were cut after of a circumferencial groove with a chain saw. The logs were schedule prior to transformation into 25 mm thick boards. The increase the rate of drying, a intermediate steaming for a period of 4 hours used to recuperate steaming for a final steaming to relief moisture gradients and internal tensions. All steaming treatment were done at 100°C. The results obtained indicated that using such technics about 72% of the boards were practically free of defects. The results can be considered as very positive, and it is probably due to the combination of the treatments applied (lo steaming and a circumferencial groove with a chain saw). as well to the adequade drying schedule.
