The effect of the insecticide profenophos (Curacron 500 CE) in the dosagen of 0, 3.1, 6.2, 12.5, 25, 50, 75, 100 e 125g a.i./ha was evaluated under field conditions for the control of the soybean caterpillar (Anticarsia gemmatalis). When the insecticide was apllied, the soybean plants were one meter high, were in the growth estage R1, and were infested with 39 to 42 large (>1.5cm) per two meters of row. The following observations were performed: the number of alive larvae (0, 2, 4, 7 and 10 days after application), defoliation (15 and 30 days after application) and grain yield. According to the results obtained it was concluded that profenophos was efficient for the control of Anticarsia gemmatalis at 50g a.i./ha and higher dosages.
