How should Armando Freitas Filho's most recent poetry volumes (Raro mar, Lar, and Dever) be read, when considered together with Máquina de escrever, his 2003 collection of fifty years of poems? Structured around diverse versions of primal scenes of the writing process, these books seem to reset the peculiar tensions of his work, between order and disorder, body and word, number and name.
