Intergerational partnership and teacher education

The paper focuses on the formative potential of the intergenerational partnership on teacher education - initial and continuous - presupposing the existence of a professional culture peculiar to teachers (JULIA, 2001), the teachers' role as producers of knowledge about the teaching itself (SHULMAN, 1986; TARDIF, LESSARD E LAHAYE, 1991), and the significance of schools as an axis for teachers education (NÓVOA, 1999; AZANHA, 2000). Information about a formative project, in progress since 2006 in Rio Claro/ Brazil, is presented. The project puts UNESP´s Pedagogy students and primary teachers together. According to the purpose, current and coming teachers are partners that collaborate on teaching. Besides the professional education of the subjects involved, the investment on this partnership aims at developing a more collaborative dimension on teachers'culture.
