The article explores traditional uses of medicinal plants in the Amazon from the perspective of the historical processes that have marked the construction of Amazon society. The study centers principally on information gathered in the regions of the Negro/Branco and Acre/Purus rivers, where research is being conducted based on ethnographic information.
