ON THE HISTORY OF RELIGIOUS PRACTICES IN SOCIO-EDUCATION: THE MODERN INFLUENCE OF CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS, OF THE 17TH CENTURY, BY JEAN-BAPTISTE DE LA SALE

Abstract

We present a bibliographical and documentary research, of a historiographical nature, on the pedagogy implemented by Jean-Baptiste de La Salle (1651-1719) for the care of adolescents convicted by justice. We used as sources, pedagogical and school manuals produced in the 20th century, as well as the codes and guides written by La Salle. The interest in the research object is related to the creation of one of the first institutions to assist offenders. The study is structured in five topics. In the introduction we explain updated information about the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools - La Salle. Next, we present the research sources. In the third moment, the context of production of material life in which the Congregation was created. Finally, we explain how the methodology of care for young people took place at the beginning of the 18th century. The research concluded that some practices carried out by the Lasallian Brothers in that period are still verified in the current context.
