The journal A Voz da Escola: written by children of the Elementary School Souza Lobo (Porto Alegre/RS, 1934-1940)

The article discusses the writings of primary school pupils of the Elementary School Souza Lobo (Porto Alegre/RS), published in the newspaper A Voz da Escola (1934-1940), as a practice of civic, religious and personal formation, learning of moral or civic education. It aims to analyze conveyed discourses, subjective processes and their influence in way children, aged 10-12, thought, acted and expressed themselves in spaces of construction of their identities. It is inset in the practice of school and children's writings, especially in the interface of the history of education and the history of written culture, which analyze the production, distribution, conservation and the usage of written objects in their several forms. Copies of the journal are taken as a privileged place in order to move forward into the daily life of an elementary school student in the 1930's, which means the school environment and a whole parallel network of meanings.
