Thinking scientifically: representing a culture

Results of research and analysis on scientific thought in the context of organizational culture at academic areas of scientific development and production - natural science, biology and biochemistry laboratories - are reported. Our main purpose was to increase the understanding of what scientists put forward about scientific thought is, using comparative research. The method used was the case study, which includes the strategy Lefèvre suggested (2000), the examination of the attitude of collective analysis. Conclusions showed that there are differences among scientific representations and that they can be associated with the organizational culture of each of the three scientific groups investigated. They also showed that organizational culture results from ways of life in laboratories and because of this, it requires permanent investigation and reflection to create conditions for implementing quality and ways of achieving it.
