Novas formas organizacionais: onde se encontram as evidências empíricas de ruptura com o modelo burocrático de organizações?

The objective of this work was to verify whether empirical evidences of new organizational forms, as published in domestic and foreign publications in English, from 1995 to 1998, did or did not represent a break away from the organizational bureaucratic pattern. There have been outstanding discussions in the field of organization about the emergence of new organizational patterns, which may stand for a break away from stablished ones. The looked-through organizations have been analysed in terms of their potentiality in technological, structural and cultural flexibility, and further consideration has been given to the type of rationality which predominates in actions of the scrutinised organizations. The technological dimension has been rated as being the one with the largest potential for flexibility while rating a medium potential in the structural and cultural dimensions. Instrumental rationality has been considered as the predominant one. It was concluded that there is a strong tendency in favor to the flexibilization of the bureaucratic model regarding the categories analysed. But the rupture with the model was not perceived, since the predominant logic of action was the instrumental one.
