Cooperative games and reading mediation: why not in the public library?

ABSTRACT

The average reading of the Brazilians is a vunerability factor for the construction of knowledge, that's up from reading the world and word reading. The Reading mediation proposes professional performance information as a form of interaction with the user for the inciting, dialogue and participate in the reading process; such action can be performed using the RPG, a cooperative game of storytelling, which has the book and reading their bases. This paper has the objective of approaching the mediation practices of reading in the Public State Library Governador Menezes Pimentel, Fortaleza - CE, through the RPG cooperative game, aiming to recognize the dynamization of activities among the young public. In this study we used the field research to map the actors, we conducted semi-double interviews and analyzed these data in a qualitative way, through discourse analysis, seeking to know how this process occurs. We found that the joint activity between the public institution and RPG players provides a nice space for reading mediation, understanding the limitations of the collection, the need to study users and other possibilities of mediation.
