Abstract
This article discusses the possibilities of dealing with racial ethnic issues in Physical Education in the municipal Porto Alegre primary schools. It is part of a master's degree thesis whose aim was to look into physical education and racial ethnic issues and analyze the data that emerged through an ethnographic case study. It reports the experience of a Porto Alegre municipal teacher who uses African Brazilian civilizing values as a pedagogical method to structure his teaching practice.
