Abstract
The objective of this paper is to analyze the perceptions that polyvalent teachers from 1st to 5th year have on physical education as a curriculum component. The methodology used was a field survey with questionnaires in sixteen schools Jacarepagua. The sample consisted of 154 multipurpose teachers in total. At the end, we concluded that there was a qualitative improvement in the perception of polyvalent teachers on physical education. However, there is still a lack of knowledge about its goals and purposes. Pointed out the need for construction of minimum arrangements for intervention in school.
