Fitness-Managment: the conflictive becoming of an enterprising culture

Abstract

This article analyzes the conflictive becoming of the fitness culture in Argentina, using the foucaultean categories of dispositive, practices, governmentality and self-entrepreneur. In the first place, it boards the emergence of fitness in the local scene, emphasizing in the objections that the community of physical education teachers realizes to the productions of this cultural dispositive. Then, it analyzes the tactics of cultural conversion that the fitness dispositive implements in its managerial side. The conclusion is that the entrepreneur ethos that describes the contemporary forms of fitness transcends the sole universe of these practices, since it establishes a fundamental base of present capitalism.
