Abstract
What is the object of study of the investigation about body? This epistemological question is the center of this paper, which problematizes the notion of body that we use in such studies. With this target, and discussing with the substancialism of two of the main perspectives in the area, this work proposes a critical-reflexive conception centered in the notion of modern mode of corporality, and for that, it studies its sociogenesis. This task is done from an immanent critic of the Elias’ works about the civilizing process. Because is through them that we can problematize the socio-historical emergence of the specifically modern body. That one that constitutes the object of study of such investigations about body.
