Performance analysis of Brazilian basketball along the three seasons of Brazilian National Basketball League

Abstract

The study examined the evolution of Brazilian basketball from the performance index (ID) teams in three seasons of Novo BasqueteBrasil (2009 to 2012), and determined reference values (percentiles) of the main ID. Data were collected on the website of the Brazilian National Basketball League. The most frequently ID in the analysis of the game of basketball were analyzed in 726 games by one-way ANOVA (post hoc Tukey). The 2011/12 season had less three-point and more two-points shots, showed an improvement on free-throws and a reduction in offensive rebounds. Percentiles indicate a high level demand for performance of teams among the ID analyzed. There was a tendency to change the game style of the teams over the past three seasons.
