Open-access Didactic Structure Proposal for Physics Education in Engineering: Analysis of the Integrative Project Component

Abstract

This paper presents an artifact materialized in the form of a didactic structure as a Basic Physics course aimed at training engineers in order to meet the training demands required by the National Curricular Guidelines for undergraduate engineering education (DCNs) and by the competency-based training paradigm. This artifact is composed by a heuristic called structuring triad. Both ones were developed and based on the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology. The assessment of the construct was carried out on its most complex component, the Integrative Project, via two methods: the analytical assessment that deals with the internal alignment and suitability of the purpose of the artifact to the DCNs; and the experimental assessment that deals with the adherence and quality of student participation in this component. There are also presented the types of resources developed and the general characteristics of the teaching-learning activities of the artifact. The internal consistency of the artifact proved to be robust, so that it met all the didactic updating requirements demanded by the research. Therefore, it is feasible to conclude that the educational product produced by this research proves to be particularly useful for updating physics teaching in the context of engineering.
