Selective dissemination of information (SDI) in health: the case of the website Amedeo

Production and dissemination of information were optimized through the easiness of communication offered by the Internet. Scientific production increases day by day. Focusing on the technological resources available for accessing scientific information, this paper aims to show the benefits of applying Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) in the education of health professionals based on an analysis of the Website Amedeo. We compare how the articles disseminated by Amedeo can be accessed directly at the Website or through a university library, in this case the Library System of the Unicamp. Furthermore, we studied the literature for identifying relationships between Information Sciences and Health Sciences, mainly with regard to Evidence-Based Medicine. Finally, we present some suggestions directed to information professionals and teachers interested in identifying possibilities of using the resources offered by Amedeo and other SDI services in university libraries, this way collaborating with the educational process of health professionals.
