ABSTRACT
A substantial number of evangelical sectors are part of what is being identified as the “new Brazilian right” or the “radical right”. For twenty years, Damares Alves, Minister for Women, Family and Human Rights in the current government of Jair Bolsonaro, has occupied a privileged place in the National Congress, in controlling public policies. Three Alves lectures will be examined in this article devoted to the analysis of its performative strategies. Here we call performative and theatrical strategies the forms of self-expression, their means, and requests, as well as the values and the symbols associated with them.
