Metamasius spp.. is not cited as a banana crop pest. However, cultural management can affect the insect occurrence. This study aimed to register Metamasius hemipterus L. occurrence in banana plants cv. Terra and its damage in an experimental and in a production area located in the county of Presidente Tancredo Neves, Bahia. It is reported the occurrence of M. hemipterus as a primary pest of banana plants cv. Terra. It is informed about the need to monitor the insect population mainly in organic production systems.
