Trata-se de um estudo sobre as possíveis conexões entre a canção de protesto (Edu Lobo, Carlos Lyra) e os discursos do CPC durante os anos 60. As criações artísticas são analisadas com vistas a captar os vínculos entre o nacional-popular na canção brasileira e o impressionismo (C. Debussy), o cool-jazz (Miles Davis), Rodgers and Hart, Heitor Villa-Lobos (modernismo), Waldemar Henrique.

This is a study if the possible connections between the protest song (Edu Lobo, Carlos Lyra) and the CPC discourses in the 1960s. Este artigo procura analisar historicamente o movimento tropicalista de 1968, seguindo dois caminhos: uma breve revisão crítica do debate intelectual em torno do tema; a reflexão sobre a trajetória histórica dos protagonistas e suas criações. Procuramos enfatizar o caráter ambíguo do legado cultural tropicalista, ao propor uma crítica cultural radical dentro das estruturas do consumo de massa. À luz deste projeto tropicalista, procurando evitar juízos de valor, apontamos para algumas problemáticas que possam nortear futuras pesquisas.

This article focuses the tropicalist movement, that "blew-up" in 1968. The analysis develops in two scopes: a critic review, concern the intellectual debate that involved the movement and the historical reflection about the protagonists and his creation procedures. We remark the main purpose of the tropicalist "project": To exercise cultural criticism inside mass culture. Finally, we list a few points of problems to be investigate, in followings historical researchs.

Este artigo discute a utilização das fontes iconográficas enquanto estratégia de autenticação da narrativa cinematográfica através da análise de um dos blocos narrativos do filme Os Bandeirantes (1940), de Humberto Mauro. Tal filme teve a orientação geral de Edgar Roquette-Pinto, diretor presidente do Instituto Nacional de Cinema Educativo (INCE), e a coordenação histórica de Afonso de Taunay, historiador e diretor do Museu Paulista, mais conhecido como Museu do Ipiranga. A estratégia de utilização da iconografia enquanto documento histórico em Os Bandeirantes produzirá um curto-circuito com o trabalho de mise-en-scène de Humberto Mauro, gerando significados diversos daqueles que foram idealizados pelos produtores do filme.

This article discusses the utilisation of iconographics sources as a strategy for autheticating the film narrative through the analysis of one of the section of the movie "Os Bandeirantes" (1940), from Humberto Mauro. This movie was supervised by Edgar Roquette-Pinto, president-director of the Instituto Nacional de Cinema Educativo (INCE), and had the historical coordination of Afonso de Taunay, historian and director of the Museu Paulista, also known as Museu do Ipiranga. The strategy of the utilisation of iconography as historical document in "Os Bandeirantes" will produce a gap between the Humberto Mauro' work as film director and what had been previously idealized by the producers of this movie.

Nos séculos XVII e XVIII consolidam-se as cidades capitais das soberanias absolutistas. Com a Revolução Industrial, a migração de camponeses e as agitações políticas, em fins do século XVIII e inícios do XIX algumas dessas cidades, principalmente Londres e Paris, alçam-se à condição de metrópoles. Este artigo procura mostrar como em Paris _ a mais cosmopolita das cidades na época _ inauguram-se novos comportamentos, modas, modos e até mesmo uma nova gestualidade. Aponta também as representações que na literatura e nas ciências humanas se elaboram sobre esse novo modo de vida no qual certos vanguardistas de inícios deste século vislumbram a germinação de uma nova sensibilidade.

In XVII and XVIIIth Century the capital cities of absolutist sovereignities are consolidated. After Industrial Revolution, the countrymen migration and political disturbance, at the end of the XVIII and beggining of XIXth Century some of these cities, specially London and Paris, raise to a metropolis condition. This article attempts to show how in Paris _ the most cosmopolitan city at that time _ new behaviors, fashions, manners and even new gestures emerge. The text also names the representations which in litterature and human sciences are elaborated on this new way of life on which certain avant-gardists from the beggining of this Century glimpse the germination of a new sensibility.

Os manuais de fotografia do século XIX servem, neste artigo, para elaborar uma discussão a cerca da produção, do consumo e da circulação de retratos fotográficos no século XIX. Em suas páginas, podemos encontrar como conceitos artísticos e estilísticos eram utilizados por fotógrafos para a satisfação dos desejos de uma clientela ávida em compor sua própria imagem, conforme seus desejos, sonhos, ideologia, cultura, posição social.

This paper intend to prepare a discussion about production, use and circulation of nineteenth century photograph portraits, based on a study of photograph manuals of that century. In those pages, we can notice how stylistic and artistic concepts were used by photographers to attend the request of an avid clientele in making it own image according to its desires, dreams, ideology, culture and social status.

Em 1547, o filósofo florentino Benedetto Varchi pronunciou uma série de conferências, chamadas de Lezioni, sobre o soneto de Michelangelo "Non há l'ottimo artista alcun concetto" e sobre a questão da superioridade da escultura, da pintura ou da poesia na hierarquia das artes. Varchi acrescentou ao texto das conferências, publicado em 1550, cartas de famosos artistas florentinos e do próprio Michelangelo sobre essa questão. A partir das Lezioni de Varchi, este escrito pretende contribuir para entender de que maneira a poesia de Michelangelo exprime seu pensamento em relação à escultura e à criação artística e como isso influenciou a interpretação da obra do mestre dada pelo teóricos da época.

In 1547 the Florentine philosopher Benedetto Varchi gave some lectures, denominated Lezione about Michelangelo's sonnet Non há l'ottimo artista alcun concetto and the issue of superiority of sculpture, painting or poetry in the hierarchy of arts. Varchi added to his lectures, published in 1550, letters written by famous Florentine artists and by Michelangelo himself. Taking Lezione de Varchi as a point of departure this text intend to contribute to understand how Michelangelo's poetry express his thought toward sculpture and the artist creation and how it has influenced the theoretical interpretation of the master's work at his time.

O que é a imagem hoje? A coexistência de diferentes tipos de imagem não permite mais conceder primazia à representação, alicerçada na relação entre imagem e realidade exterior. O modelo, fruto de abstrações formais, está tomando cada vez mais o lugar da imagem especular, marcando a passagem da natureza para a linguagem e redefinindo o regime da visualidade contemporânea.

What is an image nowadays? The coexistence of several kinds of images does not allow anymore to confer priority to representation, founded on the relationship between image and external reality. The model, generated by formal abstractions, replaces oft and oft specular image. It designates the passage from nature to language and a new system for contemporary visuality.

O presente artigo analisa as novas tendências da historiografia norte-americana a respeito da cidadania e da identidade, evidenciando os deslocamentos ocorridos tanto na escolha dos objetos de pesquisa quanto na abordagem. A passagem da história social para a história cultural implicou em rupturas significativas e abriu novas direções de pesquisa, perceptível na produção mais recente.

The present article deals with the new tendencies of north american historiography about citizenship and identity, emphasizing the birth of different choices on research subjects and approaches. The move from social history to cultural history meant important ruptures and opened new directions of research which are visible in the most recent literature.

Seus efeitos prolongaram-se pela República, refletindo-se na industrialização e na qualificação técnica e profissional existente no país.

The coffe latifundiun from XIXth century solidify and kept its economical hegemony supported by slavish hand labour and on the utilisation of the railroad. This association between social archaism and technological innovation, singled out the national culture from the second half of the century. Its effects extend on the Republic, into industrialization and the technical and professional qualification existing in the country.

O artigo visa recuperar os elementos fundamentais do ideário nacionalista durante a década de 1950, destacando a centralidade do conceito de desenvolvimento auto-sustentado. A diversidade política e ideológica do movimento nacionalista é problematizada através da análise de duas correntes preponderantes do período em foco: o nacional-desenvolvimentismo, de caráter liberal, e o nacionalismo econômico, isto é, a vertente defendida pelas esquerdas. Finalmente, é focalizado a importância da reforma agrária dentro do projeto social defendido sobretudo pelos nacionalistas econômicos, enquanto fator indispensável a uma industrialização com cidadania.

This paper intends to recover the fundamental elements of the nationalistic ideals in Brazil during the 1950s, highlighting the centrality of the self-sustained development concept. The political and ideological diversity of the nationalistic movement is analyzed through the study of two main streams during the period in focus: the national-developmentalism, of a liberal character, and the economic nationalism, i. e., the left wing stream. Finally, the importance of agrarian reform as a necessary factor of industrialization with citizenship within the social project argued mainly by economic nationalists is studied.

O artigo tem por objetivo analisar algumas experiências de vida de seis ocupantes de terra, na luta por moradia, na cidade de São Paulo. A partir de relações sociais conflituosas, estabelecidas por esses ocupantes com os vizinhos às áreas ocupadas, relatada por eles em entrevistas gravadas, pretende-se compreender como foram reelaborando sua linguagem e identidade.

The article has as subject to analyse some life experiences of six land accupants on fight for habitation in São Paulo City. From the conflictous social relationship established by these occupants with neighbours living in the occupied areas, narrated by themselves in recorded interviews, the author aims to understend how their identify and language was reelaborated.

Após a queda do muro tem-se observado um constante e generalizado comportamento político de antigos membros da esquerda que agora tendem a admitir qualquer modelo ético-político como válido. Diante da vitória do pensamento neoliberal é importante conhecer a pluralidade de tradições que o socialismo desenvolveu entre nós, além de que, poder avaliar as idéias dos socialistas não-comunistas, têm servido para romper um limite a que nossos estudos políticos pareciam destinados: partia-se do princípio de que não houve no Brasil uma tradição intelectual de adesão às idéias democráticas. A história do pensamento político brasileiro parecia estar sempre marcada pelo autoritarismo.

After the fall of the wall it has been observing a constant and widespread political behavior of old members of the left that now tend to admit any ethical-political model as valid. Before the victory of the neoliberal thought it is important to know the plurality of traditions that the socialism developed among us, in addition, to evaluate the no-communist socialists' ideas, they have been being good to break a limit the one that our political studies were destined: he broke of the beginning that there was not in Brazil an intellectual tradition of adhesion to the democratic ideas. The history of the Brazilian political thought seemed to be always marked by the autoritarism.
