Abstract in Portuguese:

RESUMO Recentemente, estudos lançaram luz sobre epistolários enquanto gênero literário, mídia específica, expressão de uma história conectada, e/ou analisaram sua composição material. O objetivo deste artigo é demonstrar como os métodos digitais podem ser utilizados para revelar conexões aristocráticas supralocais. Assim, almeja-se contribuir para um entendimento de uma história conectada da aristocracia alto-medieval. A principal fonte para isto será o epistolário de Alcuíno. Defendemos que o emprego de tecnologias GIS para mapear o conjunto epistolário do autor pode revelar como estas redes se manifestam e reproduzem relações de poder diversas, conectando e transformando a aristocracia no processo. Dois aspectos serão ressaltados: como estas redes se manifestam de forma diferente, de acordo com o gênero das pessoas envolvidas das missivas (em particular as mulheres); e como o domínio do fluxo de rios era fundamental nas conexões aristocráticas de longa distância.

ABSTRACT Recent studies have shed light on epistolaries as a literary genre, a specific medium, and an expression of a connected history, as well as analyzed its material composition. This article aims to demonstrate how digital methods can be used to reveal supra-local aristocratic connections. Thus, it intends to contribute to an understanding of the connected history of the high medieval aristocracy. The main source for this will be Alcuin’s epistolary writings. We argue that the use of GIS technologies to map the author’s epistolary collection can reveal how these networks manifest and reproduce diverse power relations, connecting and transforming the aristocracy in the process. Two aspects will be highlighted: how these networks manifest themselves differently according to the gender of the people involved in the missives (in particular women), and how mastery of the flow of rivers was fundamental in long-distance aristocratic connections.

RESUMO O objetivo deste artigo é discutir os desafios de se fazer pesquisa em história em plataformas de redes sociais. Para tal, parte-se de uma autorreflexão sobre uma experiência de investigação com arquivos digitais construídos em perfis no Instagram, ponderando-se sobre um descompasso entre escolhas decorrentes de necessidades de pesquisa e práticas historiográficas estabelecidas na universidade. Inicialmente, dialoga-se com uma tradição historiográfica de autorreflexão sobre a prática histórica, com particular atenção à chamada história digital. A seguir, discutem-se os múltiplos desafios conceituais e práticos de se abordar plataformas de redes sociais nos estudos históricos, enfatizando-se a experiência de pesquisa com perfis latino-americanos que se propuseram arquivos da pandemia de COVID-19 no Instagram. Enfim, propõe-se a noção de “história digital informal” como uma provocação baseada em situações de pesquisa concretas e na dialogia entre história e arquivos, mirando-se as especificidades de plataformas de redes sociais.

ABSTRACT This article aims to discuss the challenges of doing history research on social media platforms. To this end, it begins with a self-reflection on a research experience with digital archives built on Instagram profiles, weighting on a mismatch between choices arising from research needs and historiographical practices established at the university. Initially, the article dialogues with a historiographical tradition of self-reflection on historical practice, especially regarding the so-called digital history. Next, it discusses the multiple conceptual and practical challenges of approaching social media platforms in historical studies, emphasizing the research experience with Latin American profiles that set out to archive the COVID-19 pandemic on Instagram. Finally, the notion of “informal digital history” is proposed as a provocation based on concrete research situations and the dialogue between history and archives, looking at the specificities of social media platforms.

RESUMO A digitalização de textos de filósofas brasileiras impulsiona a redefinição e a reconstrução da narrativa filosófica no Brasil. Este artigo propõe uma análise do impacto dessa prática na identidade da filosofia brasileira, enfatizando a crucial redescoberta e visibilidade das contribuições de autoras para o desenvolvimento do pensamento filosófico nacional. A digitalização de suas obras possibilita a redescoberta de autoras relegadas ao esquecimento por décadas, permitindo um questionamento da narrativa tradicional da filosofia brasileira. Compreendemos as Humanidades Digitais como uma metodologia que, ao ser aplicada à história da filosofia no Brasil, não apenas reacende o debate sobre os elementos que a constituem, mas também amplia sua compreensão de forma mais abrangente e inclusiva. Ao desafiar concepções eurocêntricas e restritivas por tanto tempo predominantes, tal redescoberta possibilita uma revisão crítica das bases sobre as quais se assentou a história da filosofia brasileira.

ABSTRACT The digitization of texts by Brazilian philosophers is leading to the redefinition and reconstruction of the philosophical narrative in Brazil. This article proposes an analysis of the impact of this practice on the identity of Brazilian philosophy, emphasizing the crucial rediscovery and visibility of the contributions of female authors to the development of national philosophical thought. The digitization of their works makes it possible to rediscover authors who have been forgotten for decades, allowing the traditional narrative of Brazilian philosophy to be questioned. We understand Digital Humanities as a methodology that, when applied to the history of philosophy in Brazil, not only revives the debate on the elements that constitute it but also broadens its understanding in a more comprehensive and inclusive manner. By challenging the Eurocentric and restrictive conceptions that have prevailed for so long, this rediscovery enables a critical reevaluation of the foundations on which the history of Brazilian philosophy has been based.

RESUMO Este artigo analisa os impactos da virada digital na história oral, desde a popularização do gravador digital, em meados dos anos 2000, até as tecnologias de Inteligência Artificial. Argumenta-se que as transformações digitais abriram novas perspectivas metodológicas, éticas e hermenêuticas. A digitalização possibilitou avanços como entrevistas remotas e transcrições automatizadas, mas suscitou propostas de avanços além dessas práticas. A integração com IA generativa desafia interpretações convencionais, sugerindo abordagens híbridas. Conclui-se que a virada digital ampliou os horizontes do campo, mantendo o compromisso com a memória de expressão oral e suas complexidades.

ABSTRACT This article analyses the impacts of the digital turn on oral history, from the popularization of the digital recorder in the mid-2000s to Artificial Intelligence technologies. It argues that digital transformations have opened up new methodological, ethical and hermeneutic perspectives. Digitization has enabled advances such as remote interviews and automated transcriptions, but has prompted proposals for advances beyond these practices. Integration with generative AI challenges conventional interpretations, suggesting hybrid approaches. The conclusion is that the digital turn has broadened the horizons of the field, while maintaining a commitment to oral memory and its complexities.

RESUMO Este artigo investiga a profunda influência das Humanidades Digitais na pesquisa e no ensino de Estudos Clássicos. Para isso, realiza uma análise comparativa entre o Centro de Pesquisa e Estudos Plinianos (CPEP) e iniciativas internacionais proeminentes, como Perseus Digital Library, Europeana, Perseids Project e Arethusa. O estudo ressalta o papel crucial dessas plataformas na democratização do conhecimento, na promoção de inovações metodológicas e na ampliação do acesso global às fontes históricas. Adicionalmente, o artigo oferece um tutorial técnico do CPEP, discutindo sua contribuição significativa e sua pertinência para os desafios educacionais do contexto acadêmico brasileiro.

ABSTRACT This article investigates the profound influence of Digital Humanities on Classical Studies research and teaching. It conducts a comparative analysis between the Plinian Research and Study Center (Centro de Pesquisa e Estudos Plinianos - CPEP) and prominent international initiatives such as Perseus Digital Library, Europeana, Perseids Project, and Arethusa. The study highlights the crucial role of these platforms in democratizing knowledge, fostering methodological innovations, and expanding global access to historical sources. Additionally, the article provides a technical tutorial of the CPEP, discussing its significant contribution and relevance to the educational challenges within the Brazilian academic context.

RESUMO O artigo analisa as críticas sobre a produção literária de Fernando do Ó, presente na revista Reformador (1920-1960). Baseamo-nos na noção de campo religioso, de Pierre Bourdieu, e nos “protocolos de leitura”, de Roger Chartier, para discutir as relações entre espiritismo e literatura, a partir dos comentários da obra do autor. Primeiramente, situamos a sua trajetória como escritor e liderança espírita da cidade de Santa Maria. A seguir, abordamos o investimento dos espíritas nos campos editorial e religioso brasileiro e mediúnico. Por fim, analisamos os comentários e as críticas sobre os livros de Fernando do Ó, como integrantes da gestão de autores e livros relacionados ao projeto editorial espírita da Federação Espírita Brasileira. Concluímos que o projeto editorial febiano mobilizou a estratégia de divulgação de autores e obras, no sentido de ampliação do público leitor e normatização das práticas mediúnicas.

ABSTRACT This article analyzes the criticism of Fernando do Ó’s literary production in the magazine Reformador (1920-1960). We use Pierre Bourdieu’s notion of the religious field and Roger Chartier’s “reading protocols” to discuss the relationship between spiritism and literature, based on the comments on the author’s work. Firstly, we look at his career as a writer and spiritist leader in the city of Santa Maria. Next, we discuss the investment made by Spiritists in the Brazilian publishing, religious, and mediumistic fields. Finally, we analyze the comments and criticism of Fernando do Ó’s books, as part of the management of authors and books related to the spiritist publishing project of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation. We conclude that the Federation’s editorial project mobilized the strategy of publicizing authors and works in order to expand the reading public and standardize mediumistic practices.

RESUMO No período da União Ibérica (1580-1640), comerciantes da Zelândia, uma das mais ricas províncias dos Países Baixos, com ou sem o apoio das duas Grandes companhias de Comércio, passam a negociar com grupos indígenas do Maranhão e do Grão-Pará. Considerados por portugueses e espanhóis como hereges e piratas, esses agentes “holandeses” utilizam principalmente os rios Amazonas e Xingu como canais para o tráfico de uma variedade de produtos naturais com grande valor na Europa. Já os indígenas aproveitam esse interesse comercial para construir alianças militares e políticas vantajosas, manipulando, muitas vezes, os circuitos financeiros de cidades neerlandesas. O objetivo desse texto é discutir a inserção dos produtos da Amazônia nas redes comerciais do norte da Europa, mas também compreender a forma como os indígenas da região tiravam vantagens políticas e bélicas da concorrência entre as potências europeias.

ABSTRACT During the period of the Iberian Union (1580-1640), merchants from Zeeland, one of the richest provinces of the Netherlands, with or without the support of the two Great Trading Companies, began trading with indigenous groups from Maranhão and Grão-Pará. Considered by the Portuguese and Spanish to be heretics and pirates, these “Dutch” agents mainly used the Amazon and Xingu rivers as channels for trafficking a variety of natural products of great value in Europe. The indigenous people took advantage of this commercial interest to build advantageous military and political alliances, often manipulating the financial circuits of Dutch cities. This text aims to discuss the insertion of Amazonian products into the commercial networks of northern Europe, but also to understand how the indigenous peoples of the region took political and military advantage of the competition between the European powers.

RESUMEN Este artículo analiza la relación entre la Alianza para el Progreso y los programas de Acción Cívica de los Ejércitos chileno y venezolano durante la Guerra Fría, período 1961-1970. Las instituciones ar­madas de ambos países suramericanos llevaron a cabo distintos planes de contribución a la idea de desarrollo nacional de su época, principalmente enfocados en dos áreas: la instrucción técnica de soldados conscriptos y la construcción de diferentes obras públicas. La investigación se sustenta en la evidencia documental de fuentes primarias de Chile, Venezuela y Estados Unidos, ubicada en revistas militares, memorias oficiales y prensa. En definitiva, los documentos demuestran la participación activa de los dos ejércitos latinoamericanos en tareas específicas de entrenamiento técnico industrial y agropecuario, y también en labores de infraestructura.

ABSTRACT This article analyzes the relationship between the Alliance for Progress and the Civic Action programs of the Chilean and Venezuelan armies during the Cold War, period 1961-1970. The armed institutions of both South American countries carried out different plans to contribute to the idea of national development of their time, mainly focused on two areas: the technical training of conscript soldiers and the construction of different public works. The research is based on documentary evidence from primary sources from Chile, Venezuela, and the United States, in military magazines, official reports and the press. In short, the documents demonstrate the active participation of the two Latin American armies in specific tasks of industrial and agricultural technical training, and in infrastructure work.
