The acceptance of a great number of patients having eye injuires and the non-existence of an oflatmologie control on the HLSL, has motivated the improvement of the oflatmology work with the participation of the nursery itself. The following objectives were established: - to offer a permanent and systematic assistance on the oftalmologist prevention and treatment; - to increase the specific acknowledgement of the nurses gramps; - to develop and apply simple tecniques on prescription and treatment; - to offer a field for profissional training. The basic element for the success of the unit, was the disposition of the nurses in assuming the work, the cooperation and availability of the oftalmologist and settlement on the work routines. The routine for avaliation on the injury of the eye adopted by nursery has two fases: 1) Interview for identification of the subjective symptoms for the eye infury; 2) Sequence of examinations: superciliary and ciliary area; lacrimal ducts; eyelids; orbicular muscles; conjuctive; episclera; sclera, cornea; pupil; crystalline; intraocular pressure. In the described routine it is used a minimum of resomces and it is possible to the nursery to identify the main oftalmologic problems of the HLSL patients, introducing preventive and curative actions.
