Abstract:
The article’s objective is to contribute to knowledge production in the field of childhood and adolescence, based on Marxian production and authors of Marxist tradition. There is a low incidence of Marxism in studies on life situation of children and adolescents. In addition to individual approaches, the institutionalization process in shelters is considered to be an answer to the expressions of the social issue and not the disadvantage of working-class families in their protective functions. These institutions play a role in social reproduction, through protection and coercion, as well as preparing the workforce for a precarious insertion in the labor market, reproducing the cycle of institutional dependence and exploitation.
