O presente trabalho trata do estudo taxonômico da seção Acanthocladus (Kl. ex Hassk.) Chod. Esta seção engloba quatro espécies e duas variedades que são ilustradas com desenhos analíticos de flores e frutos, padrão de nervação e epidermes foliares. Descrevemos pela primeira vez, o fruto de P. pulcherrima e acrescentamos duas variedades à antiga sistemática da seção. Para a identificação das espécies e variedades da seção Acanthocladus, uma chave analítica é apresentada.

Abstract The present work involved the taxonomic study of the section Acanthocladus (Kl. ex Hassk.) Chod. This section is represented by 4 species and 2 varieties which are ilustred through analycal drawings of flowers and fruits, venation patterns and epidermises of the leaves. The fruit of the P. pulcherrima is described by first time and 2 varieties are added to the older systematic treatment of this section. For the recognition of species and varieties a key is also presented.

Diante das crescentes pressões geradas pelos inúmeros problemas enfrentados atualmente pela sociedade moderna, torna-se imperativo um maior conhecimento dos recursos naturais renováveis à nossa disposição. Este trabalho se propõe a difundir os conhecimentos sobre um grupo de organismos pouco abordado e demonstrar as possibilidades de aproveitamento do mesmo em benefício do homem.

O gênero Parapiptadenia Brenan (Leguminosae - Mimosoideae: Tribo Mimoseae) está representada no Brasil por quatro espécies. Os autores redescrevem, ilustram e reavaliam os caracteres morfológicos usados na delimitação dos táxons. São apresentados também chave para identificação das espécies e mapa de distribuição geográfica. Sinonimiza-se P. rígida var grandis Lindman e propõe-se uma nova combinação para Piptadenia zehntneri Harms. (Parapiptadenia zehntnerí (Harms.) M.P. Lima et Lima).

Abstract The genus Parapiptadenia Brenan (Leguminosae-Mimosoideae: Tribe Mimoseae) is represented by four species in Brazil. The authors present the valuation of morphological descriptions, illustrations, identifications keys and geographic distributions of the species. Piptadenia rigida var grandis Lindman is synonimized and a new combination for Piptadenia zehntneri Harms is presented (Parapiptadenia zehntneri (Harms) M. P. Lima & Lima).

A revisão das espécies da seção Gymnospora Chod. é apresentada. Duas espécies são citadas para o Brasil e uma para o Suriname. Uma espécie foi colocada em sinonímia. Para o reconhecimento das espécies consta uma chave analítica.

Abstract The revision of the species of section Gymnospora Chod. is presented. Two especies are cited for the Brazil and one for Suriname. One species was placed in synonymy. For the recognition of species a key has been introduced.

Os resultados serviram para a elaboração de uma chave para a identificação dos gêneros, contribuindo para os estudos taxonômicos.

Abstract This work deals with the morphology of fruits and seeds from five genera belonging to the subfamily Caesalpinoideae which have a common characteristic: samariform fruits. The results were used to make a key for the identification on the genera studied as a contribution to the studies of taxonomy.

Como resultado da revisão monográfica do gênero Kielmeyera Martius (Guttiferae), a nova espécie denominada K. paranaensis Saddi é proposta. Esta entidade mostrou-se endêmica ou regionalmente distribuída em certas localidades no Estado do Paraná, sendo uma das poucas e restritas espécies do gênero Kielmeyera a ocorrer na vegetação campestre no Sul do Brasil.

O autor apresenta neste trabalho o estudo taxonômico das espécies do gênero Miconia Ruiz et Pav., integrantes da seção Chaenanthera Naud., ocorrentes no Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O tratamento dado à seção assinala três espécies e duas variedades, com descrições, ilustrações e fotografias, salientando o tipo de deiscência e forma das anteras, ocorrência de domécias, margem das folhas, pilosidade da inflorescência, hipanto, ovário e fruto. Também são apresentadas novas sinonímias para as espécies típicas de M. pusilliflora e M. rigidiuscula, bem como uma chave analítica para o reconhecimento das espécies e variedades.

Abstract In this work the author presents a taxonomic study of the qenus Miconia Ruiz et Pav., section Chaenanthera Naudin, occurring in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The tratment given to the section marks out three species and two varieties with descriptions, illustrations and photographs, emphasizing the type of dehiscence and the shape of the anthers, the occurrence of domatias, the margin of the leaves, as well as a study of the hairiness of the inflorescence, hypanthium, ovary and fruit. New synonyms are placed to M. pusilliflora and M. rigidiuscula, and a key for the recognition of the species and varieties are presented too.

Decorrente da investigação e de um detalhado estudo biotaxonômico do gênero Kielmeyera Martius (Guttiferae), oito novas espécies, K. insignis, K. rizziniana (ambas do Estado do Rio de Janeiro), K. decipiens (do Estado de São Paulo), K. albopunctata, K. divergens, K. occhioniana, K. rufotomentosa e K. sigiliata (todas do Espírito Santo), são aqui descritas e ilustradas. Características geográficas e ecológicas como também as afinidades taxonômicas das espécies são também apontadas.

Abstract As a result of an investigation and detailed taxonomic studies of the genus Kielmeyera Martius, eight new species namely, K. insignis, K. rizziniana (both from the State of Rio de Janeiro), K. decipiens (from the State of São Paulo), K. albopunctata, K. divergens, K. occhioniana, K. rufotomentosa and K. sigillata (all from the State of Espi'rito Santo), are here described and illustrated. Their distributional geographical and ecological features, as well as their taxonomic relationships are also discussed.

Os autores fazem um inventário das "quixabeiras" (Bumelia obtusifolia var. excelsa) existentes na Ilha de Paquetá (Baia da Guanabara, Rio de Janeiro). Eles sugerem a preservação dos exemplares nativos como "banco de sementes" para a obtenção de plantas destinadas a serem utilizadas nos projetos de recomposição paisagística da ilha e outras localidades.

Abstract The authors make an inventory de the "quixabeiras" (Bumelia obtusifolia var. excelsa) existing in the Island of Paquetá (Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro). They suggest the preservation of the native samples as a "seed bank" to obtain plants to be used in landscape recomposition in that island as well as in others places.

Abstract The transfer cells related to the terminal phloem of the minor veins in the leaves of Vernonia scorpioides (Lam.) Pers. (Compositae) are described. We conclude that these cells belong to the a type described by Pate & Gunning (1969).

No estudo anatômico da flor de Cassia muitijuga Rich., chamou-nos atenção as seguintes ocorrências: desenvolvimento não simultâneo dos verticilos florais; presença de tecido nectarífero nos frisos laterais das anteras; desenvolvimento simultâneo das células esporogênicas em todas as sete anteras; pêlos pluricelulares de receptáculo com conteúdo rico em açúcar; presença de pólen fértil em todas as anteras; estratos esclerificados abaixo da epiderme da antera, o que impede a deiscência rimosa.

Abstract In the anatomical study of the flowers, Cassia multijuga our attention was called to the following occurencis the not simultaneous development of floral verticils; the presence of nectariferous tissue in the friezed side of the anthers; simultaneous development of the sporogenicus cells in all of the seven anthers, pluricell hair receptacle containing a substance rich in sugar; the presence of fertile-polen in all of the anthers; sclerified extracts under the epidermis of the anthers hindering the rimose dehiscense.
