Abstract
This paper discusses three episodes from a fieldwork carried out in an Argentinean police school, which allude to the same person and the same tension: the typical discomfort involved in fieldwork. This text is not as much a reflection on the discomfort as a tool of knowledge as it is a reflection on how we choose to resolve it. Considering that such solution frequently implies the priority of the intellectual over the affective, it also reflects on the difficulties that addressing our vulnerability as anthropologists continues to pose.
