Transforming Mental Health Care and users' everyday life: from the psychiatric hospital to the Psychosocial Care Center

This study aims at identifying the process of social exclusion/inclusion of users of a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS), in comparison to different models of health care. The qualitative approach was used as the research methodology. For data gathering users and people from their social network were interviewed and discourse analysis was used for examining the data. The users can stay long periods shunned in the asylums, disappearing of the city landscape. However, CAPS is a welcoming place, the first social and subjective space in which the users can be how they are and search for ways for everyday life in society.
