Since the 60's, in the avantgarde scenery of Greenwich Village, New York, Yvonne Rainer has been engaged in the investigations of the body's intrinsic potentialities, it's "physicality", as she called it. The relationship between body, politics and subjectivity receives a paradoxical approach in Rainer's work. The present article intends to establish a dialogue between the choreographer's work and contemporary questionings on the relationship between body and image.
